I have never seen two jailed people in the news more than the currently incarcerated Todd and Julie Chrisley. The couple had a pretty good run on Chrisley Knows Best before greed began to overtake everything Jesus taught them.
Now Julie is doing time in Kentucky and Todd has gone asunder in Florida. After being convicted of fraud and fibbing about finances, T and J won a settlement against the state of Georgia for $1 million. The government wants to seize the money, but they might be out of luck. Radar has the scoop.
Okay, but where’s the money?
Todd and Julie owe a whopping $17 million in restitution from their crimes because bad deeds have consequences. Rightly so, as soon as the $1 million payout showed up on the feds’ radar, they started sniffing around. According to the Chrisleys’ lawyers, they might have waited too long and dropped the ball.
“They knew the $1 million was released but didn’t do anything about it until now,” the attorney said. Apparently the government filed court papers in an effort to block the Chrisleys’ from getting the money. Also, they’re in jail so what are they going to do with $1 million at the prison commissary? Gucci Slides do not exist at that store …
The lawyer further stated it would be like getting blood from a turnip at this point because most of the $1 million is gone. It was allegedly distributed towards multiple debts Todd and Julie owe.
While the location of the money is currently unknown, the feds believe the law firm repping the Chrisleys knows exactly where it is. The lawyer has denied that allegation.
The government might have had a better result if they had been a little quicker. Allegedly, I mean, it’s the government. “They should have taken action to block the distribution and argued for the funds” when the settlement was paid out. “They took no judicial action before the $1 million was released,” the counsel noted.
This case is ongoing and a judge has not decided on where the money will wind up. Todd and Julie’s appeal for their case will be heard in April 2024.
TELL US – WILL THE FEDS GET THE $1 MILLION BACK?
