Much to her surprise, Ariana Madix has made it to Broadway, and enjoyed her debut. She’s had ups and downs thanks to Vanderpump Rules and Tom Sandoval, but it’s all led to this.
It wouldn’t be the first time a reality star has performed on Broadway, but Ariana’s newly-acquired starring role as Roxie Hart in Chicago is one of the most incredible shifts from screen to stage audiences have ever seen.
The monumentality of it all comes from the low point that Ariana transitioned from. After having been cheated on and enduring pain and heartache, she’s reached a new high point. These are her thoughts on the journey.
Ariana wouldn’t “change anything” about past year
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Ariana shared, “My goal was always to be a working actor. It’s something that took, for me, outside of Vanderpump, between 10 and 20 years to have steady work.”
She explained what life was like trying to get on Broadway after getting her degree. “I moved to New York after college. I wanted to pursue acting and theater, and I started doing more on-camera stuff.” Ariana explained that she auditioned often in New York but wouldn’t receive many roles.
Her goal in moving to California was “to do more TV, more film, to try to build that résumé and to be able to be taken seriously. That led me down, obviously, a very different path … But one that I’m ultimately grateful for because it brought me full circle.”
In reflecting on her journey, she added, “You know how in movies when you go back in time and you change something, and then everything else is different? I wouldn’t want to change anything.”
The interviewer then suggested that Tom was probably jealous since he branded himself as the singer. To that, Ariana said, “No, it was always me.” Mic drop.
Vanderpump Rules Season 11 premieres tonight, January 31 at 8/7c on Bravo.
