Once upon a time, there was a show on Bravo called Family Karma. Bravo may have forgotten about it, but we certainly haven’t. Season 3 ended with Amrit Kapai and Nicholas Kouchoukos tying the knot. That finale aired nearly a year ago, and despite being the cutest thing ever, Bravo has been silent about the show’s future ever since.
We’re still anxiously awaiting news on Family Karma Season 4. It appears the show is on pause. In the meantime, Amrit and Nicholas just shared a major life update with Us Weekly. They’ve begun their surrogacy journey, and they’re hoping for a pregnancy in 2024!
Amrit and Nicholas’ journey to fatherhood, via surrogacy
Although we saw Nicholas and Amrit’s wedding on TV in February 2023, the two lovebirds actually got married in April 2022. With the newlywed phase out of the way, Amrit said they want to “keep adding layers” to their relationship. Starting a family is the natural next step.
He shared, “I feel like we’ve done it all. So much of it’s so fleeting, but I think having a kid is just this magical — exhausting — but magical journey. And we’re both very ready to embark on that journey.”
Amrit revealed they already started the surrogacy process and interestingly, decided to pursue the process in Colombia. Apparently, they have a fantastic surrogacy program. It’s cheaper, too!
“It’s just so expensive,” Amrit said of surrogacy in the United States. “But even putting that aside, there were certain parts of the process that we really loved hearing about in Colombia, one of which was, for instance, in Colombia, they’ll do as many tries as it takes to get a baby in your arms.”
In September 2023, the lovebirds traveled to Colombia to start the process. They have selected an egg donor and met with potential surrogates. Now, they just need to settle on a surrogate and get the show on the road.
Amrit said that he and Nicholas are planning to have multiple children via surrogacy. Nicholas is indifferent about whether their first is a boy or a girl. He just wants a baby. Meanwhile, Amrit has his fingers crossed that their first little one will be a baby girl.
Amrit shared, “I want to be a girl dad and buy pretty dresses for her and learn how to do her hair and all of that really fun stuff.”
2024 should be a big year for these two. If only there were Bravo cameras following them to capture these milestones!
