American culture will never be the same again after the airing of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 reunion. What was revealed was seismic in nature. And it all tied back to Jen Shah, the show alum who is currently serving a six-and-a-half year sentence in federal prison for scamming the elderly and vulnerable.
Monica Garcia was outed as the mastermind of Reality Von Tease, a troll Instagram page that she claimed was born out of a desire to expose Jen’s true nature. Couple that with Heather Gay’s admission that it was indeed her incarcerated former co-star that allegedly gave her a black eye in Season 3, and the question of Jen’s hold over these women came up.
The RHOSLC newbie made the interesting comment of suggesting that both she and Heather were victims of Jen. It seemed to resonate. And it feels like viewers will need more time to digest what happened.
Monica recalled being “completely sucked in” by Jen Shah
Monica gave an interview to The Cut. There, she discussed Jen’s charisma and how she encouraged people into her orbit. She was asked how the disgraced alum got people “to do things for her, or behave differently to how they normally would?” And what “gave her that power?”
“When you meet Jen, you are very captivated. You are very drawn to her. She makes you feel like you are best friends right out of the gate. She was so much fun,” Monica explained. The one-and-done housewife continued: “She was so energetic. She had this incredible way of making you feel like you were so important and special to her and that she got you, no matter what.”
Monica then detailed what happened after that golden period. “You’re just completely sucked in, and then you start to see the mask slip off and see what’s really going on. I think she got messed up in some serious stuff. She knew what was coming, and I think that ate away at her. It contributed to the volatile person that she became in the end.”
Jen’s charisma certainly had a darker side. And also a very juvenile one, according to Monica. She suggested “she felt more like a child” than a motherly figure.
“Everyone had to take care of her and cater to her,” the mother-of-four revealed. “Everyone had to monitor her temper tantrums. But reflecting back on the entire relationship, she was a lot like my mom, if that makes sense. It is kind of interesting to have that dynamic where, no, I don’t feel like she was a mother figure, but she was like my mother.”
