Three weeks out from the explosive season finale of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, viewers are still talking. Some in the media are comparing the finale to the classic whodunnits such as Big Little Lies or The Usual Suspects. In a shocking twist, newbie Monica Garcia turned out to be one of the instigators behind Instagram account Reality Von Tease.
The account was set up to expose the wrongdoings of ex-cast member and Monica’s former boss Jen Shah. The account also occasionally posted unflattering comments about the other Salt Lake women. Or at least, reposted what Jen had to say about them.
A cast getaway to Bermuda in honor of Monica’s birthday ended with an explosive fight, as Heather Gay exposed her true identity. The celebration concluded with the mom of four being told to pack her bags and “get the f*ck out.” Happy birthday!
Suddenly everyone’s talking about RHOSLC
Suddenly, thanks to Monica and Reality Von Tease, Salt Lake City is all Bravo Nation wants to talk about. Similar to the way Scandoval brought Vanderpump Rules into the national consciousness, the “Mysteries Revealed?” episode is putting RHOSLC on the map. Per Variety, it’s already the most-watched episode since the Season 1 premiere at over two million viewers.
U.S. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) quoted the finale during a House Oversight Committee hearing. At the Golden Globes earlier this month, Bravoholic Jennifer Lawrence called the episode “the best reality TV finale, I think, ever.” She even offered to hand over her Oscar for their Academy Award-worthy performances.
“I’ll give them mine. I don’t care,” she joked. “They deserve it.”
Up for Best Actress for her performance as the regular girl who digs up the dirt on a scheming co-worker is Heather Gay. The Beauty Lab owner and author of the memoir Bad Mormon has been considered “the relatable one” since the show began in 2020.
“Receipts! Proof! Timeline! Screenshots!”
Heather should really consider a career as an attorney. Or maybe she could at least play one on TV. Her confrontation with Monica at their beachfront dinner would stand up against any courtroom drama on television today. It was masterful.
She exposed Monica as an imposter and overzealous wannabe fan who somehow weaseled her way into the cast, while still posting about them online. I can’t improve on the the LA Times’ description: “She delivered each line, each gesture, with the precision of a classically trained actor reciting a Shakespearean soliloquy, building to a final send-off in which she told Garcia: ‘Pack your bags and go.’” Perfection.
And the Oscar goes to…
