During the second part of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City reunion, newbie Monica Garcia shared some damaging intel about her mother, Linda Darnell. Monica went to her mother’s house after her final interview, thinking that she had failed. “Let’s say a prayer. And then she prayed that she would get it instead. She literally said, ‘Lord, if it’s not Monica, let it be me,’” Monica stated. This claim sounds so ridiculous that it could be accurate.
Of course, RHOSLC viewers have seen Linda and Monica argue. Their fight at Angie Katsanevas’ Greek Easter was ugly. After the reveal that Monica was involved in the infamous Reality Von Tease account, a video of Monica and Linda arguing leaked. Monica took the footage but denied leaking it. Some fans thought that it proved that Linda knew about the Reality Von Tease account. The plot thickens!
Monica also accused Linda of leaving her when she was just 12 to move to New York City. “What career did your mom go pursue when she left you in Pennsylvania?” host Andy Cohen asked. Monica answered, “Television.” A shocked Andy replied, “Well, she got on TV.”
Linda shot down Monica’s remarks at the reunion
Linda shared a post on X (formerly known as Twitter.) “Everything Monica says about me is a lie or half-truth. I NEVER applied/auditioned. Not S4 or any other,” Linda wrote. “I’m an award-winning journalist and TV producer. That was the TV job in NYC –News Journalist/Producer. I already had the job. Reality TV is not my cup of tea. #RHOSLC,” she added. For someone not interested in reality television, she appears to be pushing Monica to succeed in the genre.
Then Linda posted what appeared to be a text thread between her and Monica, dated February 16, 2023. After Linda said that RHOSLC didn’t need her, Monica seemingly replied, “I need you.”
Linda apparently responded, “And I wanna be there for you. 100%. But I ain’t selling my soul.” Then Monica replied, “We talked about this!!! We are showing casing our people!!!!! We are showing our Portuguese family!!!!”
In October 2023, Linda sounded off on X about the show. “Monica begged me to do this reality show with her. Begged. I didn’t want to do it,” Linda wrote. “She told me all I had to do was cook and speak Portuguese. How did she return the favor? She did me dirty.”
Well, this entire family dynamic is so confusing and seemingly toxic that I don’t know who to believe. And that is truly frightening.
