Another day, another story about the Love Is Blind producers being alleged nightmares to deal with. At this point, it’s surprising they can even find people who want to be on this show. But of course, there are two sides to every story.
We’ve heard allegations of cast members being underfed and overserved. Some participants claimed the producers deprived them of basic needs like sleep and water. Cast members have come forward with allegations of sexual assault. It’s been a mess.
The producers responded that the wellbeing of their cast members is “paramount,” but one former contestant says they are trying to ruin her life, even after filming wrapped. Radar Online reported the details.
Love Is Blind producers accused of being a reality TV nightmare
Former Love is Blind participant, Renee Poche, sued the show’s creators and producers, Delirium TV. She alleged that they matched her with a dangerous partner named Carter Wall. New court documents outline just how messed up this situation was.
In Renee’s filing, she claimed that her match was on drugs, violent, and broke. That’s like an unholy trinity of red flags. So, why would they match her with him?
According to Renee, things went south when they went to Mexico together. She said production forced them to stay in a hotel room together for up to 22 hours a day. With each passing day, Carter allegedly grew increasingly unhinged. She said he spent his time getting drunk, not sleeping, and berating her on and off camera.
Renee said, “In Mexico, I became extremely stressed about this, as I was stuck in a hotel room with him and unable to leave. We were told that cameras were always watching us and that alarms would sound if we opened the door to our room.”
Renee claimed that she repeatedly went to production about her mental state. Their response? She said they told her to just “enjoy paradise.”
Then, Carter threatened to harm a camera operator. They ended up quitting their job because they didn’t feel safe. However, they still expected Renee to shack up with this guy for some reason.
Punished for speaking out
Ultimately, Carter left the show. Netflix said they would just delete the footage of him and Renee. Although their story didn’t make it to TV, Renee obviously felt compelled to share he story. She went on a few podcasts, and Netflix didn’t like that. They’re suing her for $4 million, claiming that she violated her NDA.
“I was utterly astonished when, on November 1, 2023, Delirium initiated arbitration against me. I feel that Delirium is trying to ruin my life and punish me for telling the truth about the unsafe working conditions I saw and experienced and the dangerous lies I had been fed. Delirium alleges that I am liable for $4,000,000 in liquidated damages for breach of the Agreement.”
Renee is hopeful that the courts will find Netflix’s NDA unenforceable. She wants them to drop the multi-million dollar fine and get paid damages for the traumatizing experience.
Meanwhile, Season 6 of Love is Blind is set to premiere on Netflix on February 14. Hopefully, with zero producer controversy.
