Oh dear, well Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney could have a problem. Fans have been looking forward to a new business a la Vanderpump Rules, but Katie and Ariana’s sandwich shop might be sitting out Season 11.
It was with great flourish the former better halves of two Toms announced they were going into the food industry. Something About Her was going to serve West Hollywood the finest morsels between two pieces of bread, but the journey has been slow. There were permit problems, patio issues, and now opening the spot has been placed on hold. The U.S. Sun has the details.
Something about another delay …
It’s probably not great news when your signage comes down. After multiple false starts for Katie and Ariana’s shop, now we’ve reached full stall. The Something About Her sign, which was there even though the eatery wasn’t open, has been taken down.
But it’s never easy opening a business especially amid filming a television show and having your life completely destroyed. Ariana and Katie dealt with the heavy press-load of Scandoval, the production of Pump Rules, and life in general. On the other side of that mess is dealing with the logistics of city rules and regulations and permits galore – and that’s where they started running into problems.
Now with the removal of the main sign, obviously something else is afoot. An insider shared, “The front patio at that location was there for years (when it was Hedley’s Restaurant), and it was there without proper city permits.” The patio was great but it was also against the law. Allegedly.
Currently, there is an empty sidewalk with no sign and no yellow and white awning. In December, Katie and Ariana had to file a NEW permit suggesting an alternate location for outdoor seating. They’ll also need another canopy within the legal regulations.
Not the floor as well …
“The drawings that were submitted for the new outdoor dining space don’t look the same as it was before. They’re not giving up hope since the outdoor dining area would be beneficial to the business and will allow for more seating space,” the insider added.
Guess what, the floor has to go now too. “The health department said that the floor is not for open food use, so the entire flooring has to be pulled out. Well if you pull out that flooring, you have to pull out all the furnishings, you have to pull out the refrigeration too because that wasn’t put in correctly.”
The source continued, ”So now, all of a sudden, after spending $300,000 on a build-out, they have to redo everything. It’s a lot of back and forth with city officials.”
Additionally, the liquor license is still pending but all hope is not lost. The ladies are presently waiting on the next round of inspections and continue to move forward. Allegedly.
