Being a reality star would be hard for several reasons. The entertainment industry strikes of 2023 revealed many of these reasons. Even beyond that, assuming a reality TV working environment were as safe as possible, there would still be a psychological toll to consider.
Katie Maloney certainly has been considering that toll, especially after watching some reality TV herself. On the debut episode of her new podcast, Disrespectfully, Katie discussed the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 finale with her former Vanderpump Rules co-star, Dayna Kathan.
For those living under a rock, the Season 4 finale saw Monica Garcia exposed for her part in operating a troll account directed at the SLC Housewives. For Katie, this struck at one of her deepest fears as a reality star.

Regarding the finale, Katie said, “What happened with Monica and that whole participation in this troll account is actually my worst nightmare.” She explained that Monica’s ability to “infiltrate” the friend group was frightening. Katie further said that Monica could’ve been honest about her previous involvement with Reality Von Tease.
“There’s a way to go about it,” she explained, “but the fact that she didn’t and then when they called her out, she doubled down on it, it was so gross. And the name-calling!” She further bashed Monica: “There’s nothing wrong with not trusting someone when they’re coming into a group and you’re sharing things that are intimate. It was appalling.”
As for the “nightmare scenario,” Katie also shared, “That’s my worst nightmare because I’m always very cautious when people come into our group or on the show. Because I don’t know what their motives are and I don’t trust people.”
Vanderpump Rules returns to Bravo on Tuesday, January 30 at 8/7c. Until then, catch The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City during the same timeslot this week, ahead of the final part of the reunion next week.
