When Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 released its first trailer, everyone thought the season would revolve around Kyle Richards. Season 13 would be her story of love, loss, and perhaps triumph in the face of her marital troubles with Mauricio Umansky.
While Season 13 certainly did keep its focus heavily on Kyle, that ended up being to her detriment. Fans grew more suspicious by the day of Kyle and Mauricio’s alleged relationship problems.
On top of that, Kyle’s feud with Sutton Stracke turned audience opinion against her swiftly and securely, and for more reasons beyond that. Perhaps it was all the newfound negative press aimed at Kyle that urged Andy Cohen to talk her up on a little press run.
Andy applauds Kyle’s “openness and honesty”
On January 10, in an interview with Life & Style, Andy spoke of his enjoyment of Kyle during recent episodes. “I’m really enjoying seeing Kyle’s evolution this season,” he shared. “I think that we’ve known her for so long and she was one of those people that you never thought would be trouble in her marriage.”
As for what he was particularly enjoying about Kyle this season, he explained, “I really respect her openness and honesty. She’s always been transparent on the show, but I think what we’re seeing right now is really someone in the middle of a kind of journey of self exploration, and I think that’s really compelling.”
Andy also admitted that seeing Kyle and Mauricio split from one another was one of the most “surprising” things he’d ever witnessed in his 20 years at Bravo. Despite Andy’s admiration of Kyle’s transparency, fans can’t help but think more and more that Kyle’s journey this season has been fabricated. Still, she has some weeks left to change how the fans are feeling.
