Peacock Announces New Polyamorous Dating Series, Couple to Throuple

As cultural understanding and acceptance of the sexuality spectrum evolves, so too does our media. Where reality dating competitions once featured only heterosexual couples, they’ve recently expanded to be much more inclusive. There’s still room for improvement, but we’re heading in the right direction.

With reality shows often pushing boundaries, it was only a matter of time before things evolved further. Now, Peacock has announced a new dating series that goes beyond the bounds of monogamy. NBCU announced the new show, Couple to Throuple, on January 9.

They released the trailer on YouTube to generally favorable reactions. With Access Hollywood veteran Scott Evans at the helm and relationship expert Shamyra Howard as navigator, see all the details of the new TV-MA Peacock exclusive series below.

The what, where, and how of Couple to Throuple

The series description reveals that the show “follows four curious couples through the world of polyamory as they experiment with bringing a third partner into their relationship.”

As an Emmy-nominated journalist, Scott is no stranger to hosting. He’s worked on news and talk shows, even broadening his talents to a radio show. Meanwhile, the show’s relationship expert, Shamyra, has achievements under her belt including a doctorate in social work, awards in Sexology, and certification as a sex therapist.

The details on Couple to Throuple continued, “Set at a remote tropical resort, the couples will meet, mingle, and date a group of singles, many of whom are experienced in polyamory. With three times the fun, the feelings, and drama, these relationships are put through the ultimate test to see if they are the perfect match.

“At the end of their time in paradise, the couples will decide if their hearts have room for more than just “the one” and commit as a throuple, go home as they arrived, or leave separately.”

As for when to watch? “The 10-episode season will roll out in weekly batches of three beginning Thursday, Feb 8. The season finale will stream separately.”

Couple to Throuple begins Thursday, February 8, streaming on Peacock.
