Fans of Summer House are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Season 8. Not only has too much time passed since the cast hosted one of their themed parties, but so much has happened off camera that viewers need answers on.
Most notably, Carl Radke called off his engagement to Lindsay Hubbard. The long time co-stars were to wed in November 2023 before Carl called it quits. Both parties have suggested that fans will get some answers from the upcoming season footage. But Summer House fans will already know that Carl’s best friend since 2016, Kyle Cooke, disapproved of the romance. Some may wonder whether that had anything to do with why the relationship failed.
It’s interesting to note that Carl and Kyle have remained friends in the wake of the break up. If anything, their relationship has come out stronger in the end. There was a strain prior, when Kyle stepped back after butting heads with Lindsay after his friend left his role at Loverboy. The question remains, what is the state of their friendship now?
Carl has always been “Team Kyle”
In anticipation of the Season 8 premiere, Us Weekly chronicled the friendship, which includes Carl officiating Kyle’s wedding to Amanda Batula.
“I love being around Kyle. I care about him and I love him but it’s been hard. I’m not gonna lie. We’re gonna navigate it the best we can,” Carl said regarding the clash between their professional and personal friendship.
Fans will recall that Carl worked for Kyle at Loverboy as VP of Sales before resigning.
“He’s checked out. Ever since he’s been dating Lindsay, he’s been doing less,” Kyle opined in Season 7.
“I’ve always been ‘Team Kyle,’ so to hear otherwise, sometimes it’s hard. But I wanna move forward and not necessarily focus too much on the past,” Carl previously said. “I 100 percent think I can get back to that place with Kyle.”
It seems that the former Loverboy employee was searching for a reconciliation with Kyle in the months before breaking up with Lindsay. The month prior, in January 2023, Carl celebrated his 38th birthday with a nostalgia about “growing up” alongside Kyle.
“I’m engaged, he’s married and naturally there’s gonna be some evolution with the friendship. … I wanna find a healthy place for us as friends,” Carl said at the time. “I think we’ll find that but working with your friend — this is a warning and a disclaimer — is really, really hard.”
Carl being single again can certainly open the door to full reconciliation with Kyle. Summer House fans certainly will be interested to see how they interact post-split. Perhaps even looking so far ahead as the following season of the hit reality TV show.
Summer House is said to return in early 2024.
