Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon have been serving up piping hot drama, and reasonably shady side digs on the Real Housewives of Potomac for multiple seasons. The current season shows Robyn going through it when it comes to her marriage to Juan Dixon. Things are slowly starting to unravel, so it doesn’t exactly feel like Robyn or Gizelle have the capacity to deal with any more drama.

But who knew they would make an enemy out of the Real Slim Shady? Whether Eminem is a fan of the Bravo series or not, there is no debate that the singer isn’t about to “Lose Himself” regarding his trademark nickname. The three have been embroiled in a legal battle with no end in sight. However, we have an update about Eminem’s Real Housewives lawsuit.

In February 2023, the Grammy award-winning performer filed an opposition against a trademark application, via People, against Robyn and Gizelle for their snarky yet extremely similar podcast moniker, Reasonably Shady. Even though Eminem may have raged against the machine when he was younger, he seems unwilling to let anyone, let alone Real Housewives, take advantage of the empire he had built.

Per court documents, the 51-year-old rapper shared that he felt his brand would be damaged if the trademark application passed. His legal team claims it “could cause confusion for those who have known him by his Slim Shady.” As fans know, Eminem was born Marshall Mathers and claimed he has “exclusively used the terms ‘Shady’ and ‘Slim Shady’ since 1996.” The star also noted that he used the trademark on his merchandise and records. The paperwork noted, “The marks Slim Shady and Shady have become and are an extremely valuable symbol of Mathers, his reputation and goodwill.”

In 2022, Robyn and Gizelle decided to apply to trademark Reasonably Shady with the hope of being able to sell merchandise like sweatshirts and hats. The podcast was first launched in 2021. According to the show’s bio, it is supposed to “feature conversations about being fearless women as they recount stories from their exciting lives. Topics include dating, relationships, marriage, entrepreneurs, motherhood, style, glam, current events, and more.” But clearly, neither mother was ready for the wrath of Slim Shady.

Now, both Gizelle and Robyn have taken steps to request the patent office to decline Eminem’s request. Via Page Six, reps for the Bravo stars said, “Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant deny any likelihood of confusion between Mather’s trademarks and their Reasonably Shady mark…We are prepared to defend any allegations against them regarding their intellectual property.” So now what?

Now, almost a year later, Eminem has requested a protective order against the green-eyed bandits thanks to their ongoing trademark dispute. On December 15, the 51-year-old rapper filed another motion so he wouldn’t have to appear for a deposition with his new enemies. Honestly, it gives a whole new meaning to the East Coast/West Coast hip-hop rivalry. According to AllHipHop, Marshall is flat-out refusing to enter a room with the two women.

According to the court documents, Eminem argued it would be “unduly burdensome” if he had to appear in court. He even claimed he had a “limited knowledge of the subjects at issue.” Both Gizelle and Robyn want to face off in the courts. However, Eminem’s team is actively against the meet-up and feels it would waste his time.

The Verdict

It doesn’t help the Real Housewives’ case that Slim’s team doesn’t feel their lawyers have done their due diligence as there are still multiple other parties they can acquire the information from. According to the paperwork, Eminem’s lawyers have given three other names, including his manager, Paul Rosenberg, as he has “equal and superior knowledge to him on the relevant topics.”

Could it be that Gizelle and Robyn’s lawyers have failed to interview anyone, with their main focus just being getting the singer into a room? So I ask, will the real Slim (reasonably) shady please stand up?
