When it comes to entries in the Real Housewives franchises, The Real Housewives of New Jersey is probably the most violent of them all. Just this year, Jennifer Aydin and Danielle Cabral got into an on-set altercation that allegedly drew blood.
With all the controversy surrounding safety and workplace conditions on reality TV in 2023, Bravo made the wise choice to suspend the stars. However, in the past, Bravo may not have acted so swiftly. Like when Danielle pulled Margaret Josephs’ ponytail for example.
The women of RHONJ take names and don’t look back (and that’s not a compliment). Even Margaret, who’s often been labeled a mischief-maker and pot-stirrer, said she had almost no regrets in all her time on RHONJ. Even her most controversial moments.
Margaret on her controversial hijinks: “I didn’t think it was that bad”
In an interview with Us Weekly, Margaret got around to discussing the Season 9 moment when she and Joe Benigno pushed Marty Caffrey into a pool. “That was an iconic moment,” she said. When asked if she regretted it, she gave a flat-out “No.” In fact, all in all, Margaret had very few regrets in her time on RHONJ.
Of the pool incident, she said, “I don’t want anyone to say, ‘Oh, that was violent.’ That wasn’t violent. You know what I mean? That was hijinks.” As for her altercation with Danielle, Margaret acknowledged, “That was very, very bad.” She rightly placed the blame on Danielle. “You know what, she came in there looking for a fight, the whole thing, it was so bad.”
Of herself, she said, “It came from behind. I shouldn’t have even talked to her.” She also recalled the moment she referred to Jennifer’s lips as “a monkey’s asshole.” She stood by her comment. “That’s what came to my mind. It was the way her lip liner was on her lips. I didn’t think it was that bad.”
The Real Housewives of New Jersey returns to Bravo later this year for Season 14.
