Late 2023 was full of topics and controversies that gripped reality TV fans. Among these was Shannon Beador’s DUI arrest. While Shannon had a certain reputation before, fans were left dumbstruck when she crashed into a civilian home while under the influence of alcohol.
Despite the severity of the crime, Shannon was sentenced to only three years of probation, a nine-month alcohol program, and 40 hours of community service. In a good PR move, the Real Housewives of Orange County star was mostly silent on the matter, expressing only remorse and apologies.
Now, however, Shannon has revealed more about the situation through Bravo’s Hot Mic Podcast with host Alex Baskin. The two began their discussion with Alex asking Shannon to tell him about that weekend in her life.
Shannon recounts the night of her DUI
“I still look back on it and I have a hard time,” Shannon said. “I am a huge proponent of Uber. My CFO yells at me every month because my Uber bill is so high. So, if there was even a possibility of me having one sip of alcohol, I always take an Uber.
She went on, “And that night, I’d had an early dinner, and I was having fun actually meeting people in this new neighborhood that I was staying in. And I took an Uber home and I left my phone in the car. So, I stupidly got in the car and drove to John’s … because I needed help to try and get my phone back.”
Shan explained the trip was only three blocks, and she was confident she could drive that distance at the time. She then “got in an argument with John,” and was asked to leave. Shannon didn’t want to leave her car at John’s place, “And I made a horrible mistake … It keeps me up at night to think that I could have hurt somebody.”
In reflecting on the experience, Shannon shared it “forced” her to “take an inventory.” She revealed she was offered multiple free rehab stays. “I went to a behavioral wellness place because I want to figure out why I made certain toxic and unhealthy choices in my life.” During this stage of her life, Shannon admitted she’d been drinking more than she normally would.
