Todd and Julie Chrisley may be one step closer to returning home, but it won’t be before the holiday season. The Chrisley’s family attorney, Jay Surgent, said that the family’s appeal hearing has been pushed to April 2024.
The news, via RadarOnline, comes a month after Savannah Chrisley shared on her podcast that the courts accepted their family’s appeal. “Only about 6 percent of cases that are submitted for oral arguments get accepted. So this is huge news,” she said.
Todd and Julie were both sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison after being found guilty in their tax fraud case. The Chrisley family’s head honcho isn’t pleased about the delay in their process; however, he’s “hoping” this is a good step in the right direction. “Todd isn’t happy, but he’s content with the oral argument,” Jay said.
The Chrisley kids have “faith” their parents will return
Since turning themselves in, Savannah and Chase Chrisley have been outspoken about their parents’ time behind bars. They’ve criticized the facilities for allegedly having black mold and no air conditioning. “Everyone has this perception that my parents are in this country club prison, and that’s just not the case at all. My mom’s sitting up there with no air, and my dad’s facility has no air,” Chase said in August 2023.
Just last week, Todd gave his first interview to NewsNation and talked about life behind bars, stating the prison’s staff are feeding inmates food that’s been expired for over a year. “It’s a year past expiration. And they are literally starving these men to death here. These men are getting — I don’t know — they are getting a thousand calories a day.”
Additionally, the former reality star spoke about his safety while locked away, claiming somebody is trying to blackmail his family. There are recordings of staff members here talking about, ‘He needs to be humbled,’” he alleged. “There was a photograph taken of me while I was sleeping and sent to my daughter, asking for $2,600 dollars a month for my protection.”
Although Todd and Julie will have more sleepless nights before seeing a judge and potentially being reunited with their family, the Chrisley children “are looking forward to getting together for the holidays — even if it’s at an institution.”
“They are sad about that but truly have faith they are coming home.”
