Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip Season 4 is all about the legacy of Real Housewives of New York. It barely took a few scenes for us to feel right at home with OGs like Luann and Sonja, who feel like our wacky aunties at this point. Even Ramona who seemingly got fired from the network shortly after this was filmed, is endearing in her Ramonacoaster way. That is, if you can block out every decision she’s made outside of St. Barths.
The second episode continued RHONY Legacy’s trend on being a knockout. Everyone got involved in both the fun and the drama, sometimes within seconds of each other. Here are five of the main takeaways from RHUGT Season 4, Episode 2: “The Pirate Part Deux.”
Don’t mess with Lu’s Eggs a la Francais
Lu decided to start Day 2 off on the right foot by cheffing up her famous eggs a la Francais for breakfast. As Sonja puts it, it’s essentially just scrambled eggs like Lu likes to say with her French accent. “My mom makes the same ones and she’s never been to France,” Sonja said. Iconic.
Lu’s nice breakfast was interrupted by Kelly’s Oprah moment. Kelly tried to gift the ladies loaded swag bags with her “favorite” brands. Luann was annoyed at Kelly’s weak attempt at a promo moment, and that Kelly’s impromptu Santa Claus moment was leaving her eggs getting cold. “This is not a brand sales trip for the Housewives to sell sh*t,” Lu said. Hey, Luann has a point — at least the other women are slightly more subtle about their on-camera adverts.
Sonja said the “B” word
Lu then led the women to a beach day after she finished screaming at Sonja and Ramona for being late. Luann’s attitude was a sign Sonja needed not to ride in the car with Lu. “I’m gonna go in any car except the one Luann is driving,” Sonja said, referring to the Countess as a terrible driver. At least Kelly’s driving was calm enough for Sonja to film a Cameo from the back seat like the working woman she is.
Once the women got to their beach lunch, Sonja tried to get Kelly to tell her side of the Scary Island story. Obviously, you can’t tell the infamous story without bringing up Bethenny Frankel, and Sonja dared to call B her good friend. “We talk more than you and me on the phone,” Sonja snapped at Luann. The entire table of slightly tipsy ladies dropped their jaws at the comment.
Even Ramona had to defend Lu in the moment of Sonja’s public display of bad friendship, and the entire crew called out Sonja for the mean comment. “It’s a little bit like a slap in the face because we’ve been rooting for Sonja and having her back for a long time,” Dorinda said. Sonja doubled down that Luann and Ramona are her best friends, but she doesn’t spend a lot of time with anyone because her life is a bit of a mess.
“It’s not that I don’t want to be with them,” Sonja said. “I’m bouncing from couch to couch with family.” Poor Sonjarita, I always just want her to win.
Ramona’s new man
The lunch took a positive turn when it came to Ramona’s love life. Ramona was super coy and vague about whether or not she had a boyfriend, but her face told the truth. “I want to protect it. It’s something special,” Ramona said in the confessional.
Dorinda, who is known to butt heads with Ramona on the regular, was excited to “bust” Ramona for having a man. Dorinda believes that Ramona has become softer now that she has someone special in her life. The chaotic lunch ended with the women dancing on tables and Sonja flashing the camera.
“This lunch has been quite fruitful,” Dorinda said. “We found out that Ramona is involved with someone. Sonja is still clearly in love with Bethenny and we don’t matter. That’s enough for one day.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Kelly revisits Scary Island
By the end of the day, Kelly was able to tell her side of the story about Scary Island. She talked about being coined “crazy” by the episode and it clearly affected her life deeply. Kelly told the women that at the time she was dating a man, but broke up with him once Scary Island happened so he wouldn’t be labeled as dating a “crazy person.” It was honestly sad but nice to hear her side of the story of the dark episode that has become infamous for Real Housewives fans. “I would’ve done anything to get off that island,” Kelly said.
Despite Kelly and Luann’s beef about the 50lb gift bags, the women seem to be happy to get to know a new side of Kelly. “She’s not crazy, they made her crazy,” Luann said. Dorinda, who has become BFFs with Miss Bensimon, can admit that Kelly is quirky, but she’s never seen Scary Island to judge that other side.
Kelly ultimately had the best comeback to being called crazy for over a decade. “I mean, crazy hot. I can’t help that,” she said. You go girl.
The return of the pirate
Lu hosted a dinner at the villa filled with Ramona’s favorite aphrodisiac — oysters. Even though Ramona admitted she was taken, she decided to invite 10 young men over to the house for Sonja and Luann to play with. The pair were like dogs in heat when they saw the crew of waiters show up to the party.
Dorinda kept delivering hilarious lines about the men being too young for her and seemingly uninterested in her next to Luann and Sonja. “With these sharks, I’ll never get a bite. I’ll be lucky to have half a worm. I’ll get chum,” Dorinda said of her flirty friends.
Luann ended up honing in on a brunette man with a slight beard whom she thought looked enough like the pirate for her liking. Dorinda got a kick out of the women calling any dark-haired man with facial hair a pirate because, ultimately, none of them look alike. Ramona got the man to dress up in a full pirate costume to impress Luann. While it was a fun flirt for Miss Lu, she ended up agreeing with Dorinda that the men were a little too young for her liking.
Sonja had a separate theory as to why Lu didn’t hook up with the pirate’s understudy. “This guy is squeaky clean and very youthful. She wants a dirty pirate,” Sonja said. “I don’t think this guy’s plundered any booty anywhere on any vessel.” And that, folks, was day two of RHUGT Season 4.
