After Vanderpump Rules Season 10, when Scandoval was all said and done, certain aspects of the story didn’t quite add up for fans. For example, why were Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval still living in the house if they hated each other so much?
Gradually, more and more details came out about the duo’s living situation. On Watch What Happens Live, Ariana explained there were multiple stretches where she would stay elsewhere. As she filmed Dancing with the Stars, for instance, she stayed at an Airbnb.
Moreover, Ariana explained that she wanted to sell the house, but she’d be unable to since she and Tom owned the property together, and Tom didn’t want to sell. Recently, fans were given further context thanks to Bravo’s recent VPR special, “A Decade of Rumors and Lies.”
Why Ariana wants Tom to sell instead of stay
During the special, Katie Maloney visited Ariana’s home, noting how quiet it was. Ariana explained that Tom was in New Zealand doing Special Forces, hence the quiet. “Three months ago, when Tom blew up our lives,” Ariana told cameras, “I was not, like, prepared to be kicked out of my house and start a whole new frickin’ life.”
As such, she further explained, “Even though we still live under the same roof, I’ve been able to maintain a no-contact policy. We communicate via his assistant Anne.” She lamented Anne’s position but was glad to not have to look at Tom’s face. Back with Katie, Ariana said, “I feel like the house is, like, the last thing that’s, like, tying things.”
She continued, “What I think is psychotic is that he wants to buy me out and stay here.” Katie said if Tom had the money to buy out Ariana, he might as well buy a new place. Ariana also noted how Tom would essentially be forcing her to move while he remained sitting pretty. Ariana further speculated that he might invite Rachel Leviss to come live with him.
