Season 32 of Dancing with the Stars did not disappoint. For the first time in the show’s history, five couples competed in the DWTS finale. Daniella Karagach and Pasha Pashkov also made history as the first married couple to advance to the finale.
In the end, Xochitl Gomez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy won the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy. Singer Jason Mraz and Daniella placed second, while Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix and Pasha came in third place. Charity Lawson from The Bachelorette and Artem Chigvintsev took fourth place, while actress Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber came in fifth place.
Throughout DWTS Season 32, we saw some fabulous performances. For this list, I’m including a group dance and a dance with a special meaning. Not all of these dances were perfect scores. Some were included because of the wow factor. Let’s look back at the most jaw-dropping dances from DWTS Season 32.
11. Alyson Hannigan and Sasha Farber – Quickstep
Alyson and Sasha danced a quickstep to Christina Aguilera’s “Candyman” for Music Video Night. Not only did Alyson recreate the World War II video vibe, but she managed to do a great quickstep. It was a lively routine, and Alyson shone brightly.
10. Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev – Freestyle
Charity based her Freestyle routine on her cheerleading background. There were a ton of crazy lifts and tricks. The exciting performance had a drumline, cheerleaders, and some dancing. Charity came alive and radiated confidence during this performance.
9. Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov – Quickstep
You would never know that Ariana was dealing with a foot injury during this performance. Well, other than the fact that she was wearing bedazzled sneakers. The dance, which she dedicated to her late father, received raves from the judges.
This quickstep was light and entertaining. It had an old Hollywood vibe. Pasha’s choreography allowed Ariana to cover a large section of the floor when out of hold, which showcased her skill.
8. Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy – Freestyle
Xochitl’s finale Freestyle dance paid tribute to her Mexican heritage and the set design did also. At the beginning of the piece, Val played the violin. Then Val and Xochitl danced a Latin-infused routine to District 78’s Que Calor. Suddenly, there was a change in the beat, and the performance switched to a hip-hop-style routine.
This routine marked the duo’s final dance together, and they went out on top. The routine garnered Xochitl her fourth perfect score in a row, and it was truly one of the best dances from DWTS Season 32. It was obvious that Xochitl was the frontrunner for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
7. Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach – Argentine Tango
Jason and Daniella’s Argentine Tango, set to Taylor Swift’s song, “Don’t Blame Me,” landed him his first perfect score. The dance was sultry, brooding, and passionate. Jason perfectly embodied the suave leading man. And he made the complicated footwork look easy.
6. Charity Lawson and Artem Chigvintsev – Contemporary
During the Most Memorable Year episode, Charity and Artem danced an emotional contemporary routine to the Selena Gomez song, “Lose You to Love Me.” The routine was based on Charity leaving behind a toxic relationship.
The dance utilized a metal structure like a jungle gym. Artem and Charity began the routine on the bars. In a breathtaking moment, Charity did a trust fall off the top of the bars and into Artem’s arms. This dance was emotional and beautiful.
5. Team Young’n Style – Group Dance
This team prepared a high-octane routine to PSY’s song, “Gangnam Style.” The team included Xochitl and Val, Charity and Artem, Lele Pons and her partner, Brandon Armstrong, and Harry Jowsey and his dance partner, Rylee Arnold.
The fun routine featured a lot of lifts and tricks. Harry even tossed Charity over his head and Brandon caught her. It was crazy! This jaw-dropping dance was awarded the first perfect score of the season.
4. Ariana Madix and Pasha Pashkov – Cha-Cha
During Music Video Night, Ariana and Pasha danced an incredible cha-cha to Britney Spears’ song, “I’m A Slave 4 U.” This just happened to be Ariana’s fave Britney song.
The couple’s sexy cha-cha perfectly captured Britney’s video. Ariana danced with the female pros, and she kept up with them. Britney would be proud.
3. Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy – Samba
Xochitl and Val’s samba during the semi-finals was a tour-de-force performance. The side-by-side sections were incredible. It was fast and fresh, and Xochitl oozed confidence. This duo captured the celebratory feel of the samba, along with another perfect score.
2. Jason Mraz and Daniella Karagach – Freestyle
Jason and Daniella’s finale Freestyle was an infectious, high-energy routine. It was a Lindy Hop on steroids, infused with flirty moments. The duo’s footwork was lightning-fast. And it is impossible to watch this routine and not smile.
1. Dancing With the Stars Pros – Tribute to Len Goodman
Head judge Len Goodman retired after Season 31 of DWTS. Sadly, he passed away in April 2023. Len was such an integral part of DWTS that the trophy was renamed the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
Dance pros Val and his wife, Jenna Johnson, choreographed a beautiful waltz to honor Len. It was set to “Moon River,” one of Len’s favorite songs.
The current pros danced alongside returning pros Anna Trebunskaya, Kym Johnson Herjavec, Edyta Sliwinska, Karina Smirnoff, Mark Ballas, Tony Dovolani, Maks Chmerkovskiy, and Louis van Amstel. Both host Julianne Hough and judge Derek Hough also danced with the group.
This dance was emotional, elegant, and simply stunning. At the end of the performance, the dancers looked at Len’s empty seat, illuminated by a beam of light. “All good things must come to an end,” Len said in a voiceover.
The dancers cried, along with many fans in the audience and at home. It was the perfect way to honor the beloved judge.
