Jeff Lewis is known for speaking his mind. The former star of Flipping Out started his own podcast back in 2017 and has been giving controversial takes ever since. While some love Jeff’s brutal honesty, others think he goes too far.
One such example would be his recent comments about Real Housewives of Salt Lake City newbie, Monica Garcia. While speaking at a BravoCon panel back in November, Jeff dissed Monica by saying she’s “on food stamps” and “three payments behind” on her luxury vehicle. But instead of apologizing for the below-the-belt dig, he’s doubling down.
Jeff doesn’t think Monica is “aspirational”
Jeff recently followed up with The Messenger and sniped, “I have no interest in patching things up with Monica. I’ve said what I believe to be true, where I don’t believe Monica is the right fit for Real Housewives. It’s not an aspirational lifestyle.”
He went on, “I understand that she might be relatable, but that’s not why we watch Real Housewives. I don’t watch Real Housewives because they’re relatable, I watch them because of their extravagant lifestyles and they live a life that most of us do not live.”
Finally, Jeff issued the ultimate dig and stated, “I find the Monica storyline to be depressing, frankly.” Yikes!
Monica strikes back
As for whether or not the well-known house flipper would invite Monica on his podcast, that’s a resounding no. “I have no interest at this point. If I’m going to get a Housewife from Salt Lake City, I want Heather Gay or Meredith Marks or Lisa Barlow or Whitney Rose. I mean, pretty much anyone else.”
But Monica, true to form, hit back. “First of all, I don’t even know who that is. Honestly, I’m like ‘Who’s Jeff Lewis?’ when people told me that. I guess he had a show at one point? I don’t know. I need to Google him,” she told Us Weekly.
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
