Family Karma star Amrit Kapai said he’s hopeful that Bravo will renew his once-hit reality show for a fourth season. Chatter regarding a new season of the Bravo show that showcased several Indian families “taking America by storm” began after the network quietly placed the series on hiatus in the summer of 2023.
NBCUniversal executive France Berwick commented on the series’ future after BravoCon, adding it’s one of her personal favorites. “In my heart of hearts, I believe we will bring that back at some point. You have to have patience. That show was so multi-generational — those people just were completely authentic.”
Now that the cameras are down, Amrit and his husband, Nicholas Kouchoukous, are eager to continue sharing their story, and they’re asking for the watcher’s support.
Will Bravo continue telling important stories?
During an interview with The Wrap, Amrit and Nicholas discussed the possibility of Family Karma returning for another season.
“What I will say is that you’re going to see us on TV, hopefully, sooner rather than later,” Amrit said. “We’re excited to continue telling our story.”
One of the reality star’s biggest storylines throughout Family Karma involved his sexuality and coming out to members of his family who held traditional beliefs. Season 3 ended with Amrit’s wedding to Nicholas, and since then, the pair have been planning to become parents.
“Nicholas and I are actually on the journey to fatherhood. We’re exploring surrogacy. We have a lot of updates for people and a good story that we really want to continue telling because having a family is for everyone. It doesn’t matter who you are,” Amrit said.
“It transcends sexuality, race, ethnicity,” Nicholas added. “We need those fans to be loud; we need them to be reactionary. We need to see more South Asian and Asian representation.”
Since the show’s sudden conclusion, there has been a bigger conversation about representation on Bravo. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Crystal Kung-Minkoff said she owns her role as one of the only Asian Housewives with pride.
“…it’s been interesting. After three years of being on the show, I feel even more proud and comfortable in my skin. And I’ve always loved being Chinese; it’s a badge I wear with real honor,” she told The Wrap.
