Jennifer Fessler Sent to Hospital Over Weight Loss Drug, Continues to Take It

Concerns over body image are a serious dilemma in the U.S. and the world at large. Everyone feels the pressure to look a certain way, and that leads to unhealthy practices like counting calories or, in the case of many TV stars, using weight loss drugs. The most popular among these lately have been Ozempic and Wegovy, branded forms of semaglutide.

However, many have warned about using Ozempic as an over-the-counter, self-prescribed weight loss medication. For one thing, Ozempic is made specifically for those with type 2 diabetes. When wealthy people buy semaglutide, they run the risk of creating scarcity for diabetes patients who truly need the drug.

And that’s not even taking into account all the health risks for non-diabetes users of Ozempic. Jennifer Fessler has experienced some of these complications firsthand. Unfortunately, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star has no intention of giving up on her weekly injections.

Jennifer is “not nervous about” Ozempic

On the first episode of her new podcast, Two Jersey Js, Jennifer discussed her weight loss drug usage with Jackie Goldschneider. “I have been on, and I’m not going to call it Ozempic – that’s been the umbrella name. But I’ve been on semaglutide for over a year now, and I’ve lost maybe 22 pounds.” Jackie has vocally opposed Ozempic, calling it a “very dangerous trend.”

However, Jackie said she would respect her friend’s decision. She asked Jennifer if her weekly injections made her nervous. Jennifer explained, “I’m a raging hypochondriac, but when it comes to things having to do with my physical appearance, somehow that goes out the window. For instance, I’m not afraid at all of going into surgery for anything cosmetic.”

Jennifer continued, saying, “I had to go to the hospital for an impacted bowel … and I’m still not nervous about it.” Although she wasn’t certain, Jennifer said she was “pretty positive” semaglutide was responsible for the trip to the hospital.

She reported that she had been eating whatever she wanted, and soon became constipated, a common side effect of Ozempic. She took responsibility for ignoring the constipation, having been aware of the drug’s side effects. Even despite the trip to the hospital, Jennifer said she was not “worried about” continued semaglutide usage.

Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 is expected to hit Bravo in mid-2024.
