What do The Bachelor and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test have in common? Well, if you ask Tyler Cameron, he believes that both shows are “psychological warfare.”
The melodramatic comment came via an interview with Us Weekly, where Tyler dished on the grand finale of the FOX survival reality show. Spoiler alert: he just won (or passed?) Season 2 of Special Forces, alongside Nick Viall and Erin Jackson. Although Tyler survived the test, it sounds like it was just as horrible as it looked on TV.
The Bachelor: World’s Toughest Test
Tyler made his reality TV debut on The Bachelorette, vying for the love of Hannah Brown. He didn’t quite pull that off, and he said that he later turned down an opportunity to star on The Bachelor. Instead of moving forward with the ABC franchise, Tyler said he wanted the see “what the world had to offer.” It turns out, what the world had to offer was Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. According to Tyler, either option would have been challenging for his psyche.
“Both [shows are] psychological warfare,” Tyler shared. “But I would definitely say Special Forces is tougher. I get to go to nice exotic places on The Bachelor and do all that stuff. I go to exotic miserable places with Special Forces.”
Tyler expressed how competing on Special Forces felt like a “video game.” He beat the final level, where they had to endure being “captured” and “interrogated.” By the end of it, his body was on its last leg. He wasn’t sure if he could push forward, but somehow found the strength to see it through. Tyler said he was so exhausted by the time it was over, he said he could hardly comprehend what he had done.
“I’m not even in my own body anymore,” he said. “I’m just kind of checked out, just hoping to survive. It isn’t until they come up and give us a hug or whatever, that I’m like, ‘Oh wait, I actually passed and did this thing.’”
So, Tyler won this round of psychological warfare. However, winning Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test doesn’t deliver a prize. There’s no cash, and there’s no trophy. Tyler walked away with a little bit of his dignity and a pat on the back. That’s more than what some former Bachelor stars can say.
