Jenna Lyons took a lot of heat from her Real Housewives of New York co-stars during their freshman season. It got really messy at the reunion when model Ubah Hassan accused Jenna of being inauthentic for the cameras.
If it was to be believed that Jenna shared a persona of herself for RHONY viewers, then the trend of orchestrating for the camera with her gift-giving could have some credence.
Jenna denied having a “secret plan” when gifting
Jenna made a habit of gifting her co-stars of items she was seemingly trying to promote and collaborations she was involved in. The most infamous being the green negligee that Jessel Taank received at Erin Lichy’s Hamptons home. Jessel repeatedly complained that it gave her the appearance of a Christmas tree.
Then there was the massive giveaway of collaboration items at Brynn Whitfield’s wreath-making party, at which point Jenna’s co-stars started questioning her motives.
Now, post-reunion, Jenna is on the interview circuit commenting about the ‘kickback’ she got from her co-stars. During the November 21 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jenna commented on the incident.
“You love to give gifts, and everyone thought you had a secret plan or something,” host Jimmy Fallon said.
Jenna explained, “I love giving gifts. I love getting gifts, it’s part of my love language. I gave the girls a bunch of gifts, and they assumed that I was giving them for a promotion which was not the case. They were things that I loved, brands that I wanted to promote, or like help and support. And I got a lot of kickback.”
Jimmy thought the skepticism, “odd.” Jenna then defended herself by saying her gift bags “were nice” and good quality items.
“I did a total of what was in there. That was a really expensive gift,” Jenna added.
