Like all pet owners, Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy and girlfriend Ally Lewber enjoy talking about their dog, and they brought him up at BravoCon earlier this month. The dog formerly known as Graham was a gift to Rachel Leviss from her father while she and James were still together.
Now the toy Goldendoodle is adjusting to life with a new mom, two cats and a new name, Hippie. While James gushed that his dog is “so good” and “amazing,” Ally chimed in, “He’s so great … I love him.” She added that he’s really happy in the new yard at their home in the Valley.
Earlier this year when Rachel checked herself into a mental health facility following Scandoval, she reportedly left her dog in a shelter, but James was able to adopt him and bring him home. Admitting at the time that he’d missed her dog more than he’d missed Rachel, the Hollywood DJ hasn’t spoken to her since adopting her dog.
Dog love is forever
In July, James posted a photo of himself and his buddy on Instagram with the caption, “Look who made his way back home, back into my life. I’ll take care of you forever, and I love you.”
A couple of weeks later, James announced the dog’s name change. “Hippie!” he posted via Instagram. “We’ve decided to rename this little beauty ‘hippie’ this is a tribute to my late godfather, George Michael’s dogs name … the only dog I saw around the house growing up.”
James’ dad and George were close friends until the entertainer’s sudden death in December 2016. “Although George and hippie are in heaven now together I know that they are watching over me now, a proud doggy papa!”
I sincerely hope that the responsibility of caring for another living creature who depends on him for everything will help James grow up a bit.
Vanderpump Rules Season 11 premieres in January 2024 on Bravo.
