A lot of people aren’t familiar with Harry Jowsey. He was featured on the Netflix show Too Hot to Handle and now he’s tripping the light fantastic on Dancing with the Stars.
While Harry and pro partner Rylee Arnold certainly aren’t putting on a poor performance, the duo aren’t really packing a punch with the viewing audience. On last night’s episode, Harry and Rylee were once again safe from elimination. Unfortunately for Harry, what he isn’t safe from are ignorant comments he made in the past. Now fans are furious and want him out of the game entirely.
Time for Harry to tap out?
How people are still making bigoted comments outside the privacy of their minds is a lesson in not reading the room. Even back in 2021. Like many others in the moderately famous world, Harry has a podcast. On that podcast, he ran his mouth a little too much.
An audio clip of Harry using a gay slur has reappeared and it isn’t doing his dancing venture any favors. On an episode of Tap In with Harry Jowsey, he spoke about makeup artist and YouTube star James Charles. Harry had a hot mic and said, “James Charles is trying to fk me.” Harry’s co-host had no clue James existed in this world so Harry replied, “He’s just some f*****t.”
Then Harry began to laugh at his own statement. Once the audio made the rounds and showed people who Harry is, he ran over to Instagram to clear his name. He said, “I just wanted to come on here and say that I am extremely embarrassed about myself, my actions, and the fact that I let such a word slip out.” Yep, it definitely “slipped out.”
DWTS fans are big mad
”I just want to say to James, my friend, that I said this word about. I am deeply sorry. We have mended things in private, but I just wanted to come on here and say that to the rest of the LGBTQ+ community that I’m going to take some time to educate myself on this and apologize,” he added.
“This word doesn’t belong in my vocabulary, and it shouldn’t be spoken about,” he continued. Correction. “This word doesn’t belong in ANY vocabulary, and it shouldn’t be spoken about.” There, I fixed it.
That’s all well and good, but the dancing fans aren’t having it. One person wrote on Twitter, “People finally remember that Harry said a whole ass homophobic slur, I see.” Another shared, “Wow, this sucks, Harry Jowsey was a pretty vocal “ally” to the LGBT community. Guess these influencers are only allies when it benefits them.”
Others assumed Harry only apologized for his ignorance because he didn’t want the backlash. Last month Harry and Rylee weren’t doing great so he went for the sympathy vote by posting about his dog passing. I’m not sure what he’ll have to do to get out of this one.
