Jen Shah might be behind bars, but she’s still making plenty of waves from her prison cell. The former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star made it clear that she would not be silenced while serving her fraud sentence.
But it’s unlikely anyone expected a report such as this from her. Jen has accused her former place of business of internal racism behind the scenes. Jen’s claims are consistent with Vanity Fair’s recent expose against Bravo and the Real Housewives.
Recently, Ramona Singer has been swept up in a firestorm over her alleged use of the N-word and other racist remarks while working for Bravo. Perhaps it was these recent reports that gave Jen the courage to step forward with her account.
Jen claims production “found nothing wrong” with slur
On November 2, Jen reached out to Page Six via a representative, reporting that a fellow RHOSLC cast member called her son the N-word and that an investigation into the incident yielded no punishment. “A cast member of the show … called my child the N-Word, which I reported to Lisa Shannon and the rest of the Shed Media production team.”
Jen, a woman of Tongan and Hawaiian, is married to Sharrieff Shah, a Black man. Jen and Sharrieff have two songs together. She further reported, “My husband was also gifted a bag of watermelon from a [former ‘friend of’ and current ‘Housewife’] during a scene.” She claimed Shed Media’s investigation into the incidents “found nothing wrong” with either.
Additionally, a representative for Shed Media told Page Six, “We strongly disagree with Ms. Shah’s characterization of events. Consistent with our internal guidelines, we decline to comment on confidential investigations.” The Warner Bros. Unscripted Television division “acted on its own initiative” to investigate, but received no additional complaints over the watermelon.
Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 4 continues – without Jen – Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
