Historically, Erika Jayne and Sutton Stracke just haven’t really meshed. It looks like their rapport on this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills might not go much differently. We’re only two episodes in to Season 13, but one of the storylines already unfolding pretty clearly is the rift in Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s almost 30-year marriage.
As more is revealed about Kyle and Mauricio as the season moves forward, we’ll likely see Kyle looking to the other ladies for support. However, Erika recently shared that she didn’t particularly understand or appreciate Sutton’s response to Kyle’s separation.
Erika questioned the motives behind Sutton’s behavior towards Kyle
Erika talked to Pride Today about where she stands with all of the RHOBH ladies. When the conversation turned to Sutton, Erika reiterated what we’ve already seen with them across several seasons, which is inconsistency. She said that she thinks Sutton’s often a wild card and doesn’t understand her motives.
Erika began, “I see [Sutton] doing things not only to me, but to others. And it’s just disappointing because you wonder like what are you doing this for? The camera? Is this who you are? Did someone tell you to do this? Is this what you feel and if so, why?”
Then she mentioned how Sutton handles Kyle’s split – with Mauricio, not her favorite party trick. She didn’t give much information about what Sutton did or said to Kyle, but clearly feels that Sutton was not genuinely supportive of her supposed friend Kyle during her difficult situation this season.
“If your friend Kyle is going through something, why are you so invested in an ugly way? Why aren’t you more caring and loving? Like, I don’t know. There are moments of Sutton that are great and then it ends up in disappointment quite honestly.”
Erika shared how she’s supporting Kyle
Erika needed help from a professional to figure out how to be empathetic in the first episode of this season. But she must’ve been able to conjure some up, because she said she’s supportive of her pal Kyle both on-camera and off.
“I am Kyle’s friend no matter what happens, it is her marriage with Mauricio. It is not our marriage as an audience base, or as a cast. It’s two people that they need to do what is right for them. I love Kyle and I will be there for her.”
Erika knows a little something about super ugly, public splits, so she offered Kyle some of her … wisdom?
“I did say, ‘Hey girl, this is going to suck.’ Because it does.”
I’m not sure Erika’s issues with Sutton have always been warranted, but judging from the previews for next week’s episode, we’ll definitely be seeing some of that Sutton unpredictability during what was supposed to be a fun night out stuffing dollar bills in sweaty men’s underoos!
