Ahead of the Real Housewives of Potomac November 5th premiere, Bravo just dropped the Season 8 taglines. As usual, the RHOP ladies are giving us a lot to talk about. Which taglines left us gagging, and which just made us confused? Did Gizelle Bryant find a way to work “word on the street” back in like she did the first three seasons? Do any rise to the level of RHOP’s most iconic taglines ever? And how does newcomer Nneka Ihim measure up? Here’s our ranking of the Real Housewives of Potomac Season 8 taglines from worst to best.
Robyn Dixon: “I Just Took a DNA Test, Turns Out I 100% Don’t Care!”
Robyn Dixon wants everyone to know she’s totally not bothered. Not bothered at all!
The former fan favorite had a big fall from grace last year. The denial of her husband Juan Dixon’s infidelity was painful to watch. Judging by the RHOP Season 8 first look, producers will not let the remarried couple hide their drama this year.
Using a lyric from “Truth Hurts” is such an outdated and overdone reference, though one of Robyn’s defining personality traits to be late to everything. And quoting Lizzo, an artist currently dealing with a lawsuit about some serious workplace misconduct allegations? Considering Juan’s own workplace controversy? This is even worse than the season Robyn’s tagline was that she never gets played.
Mia Thornton: “It Doesn’t Matter the Size of Our Home, I’m Always the Queen of This Castle.”
This isn’t a bad tagline, but it feels a little tame for Mia Thornton, who has never done anything tame in her life. It’s inspired by the gossip this season about her smaller home. But the RHOP Season 8 trailer hinted at the drama in her marriage, which is currently playing out. There’s even a moment where she seems to admit to marrying estranged husband Gordon Thornton just for his money.
Oddly enough, the next tagline on our list seems more fitting for Mia’s Season 8 journey.
Ashley Darby: “You Don’t Have to Dig for Gold When You Shine This Bright!”
We’re glad Ashley Darby didn’t reference her son’s poop again. As we saw in the RHOP Season 8 trailer, Mia accuses Ashley of being a gold digger. We’re guessing this tagline hints at a feud between the two women, even though Mia seems to readily admit to gold digging.
But this season, we’re hoping to see more of single Ashley dating Bravo hotties, and less of a focus on her toxic marriage to Michael Darby.
Wendy Osefo: “If You’re Going to Test This Professor, Be Prepared to Fail.”
Wendy Osefo‘s co-stars have repeatedly tried to take her down, and haven’t always aced the test. Remember last season when they accused Eddie Osefo of…smiling too much?
Dr. Wendy’s tagline exudes confidence, and reminds us that she’s smart, strong, and stunning. And, of course, willing to get her hands dirty. This tagline suits her just as nicely as her four degrees.
The reason it doesn’t rank higher is because we still prefer her Season 6 tagline, which was pretty similar: ““This professor doesn’t just grade on the curve, she sets the curve.”
Nneka Ihim: “Nigeria Raised Me, LA Made Me, and Potomac Will Remember Me.”
This is the perfect kind of tagline for a newcomer trying to make their mark. It’s gotta be hard for any newbie to stand out amongst this iconic cast, which features such strong personalities and four OGs (five if you include “friend of” Charisse Jordan). Hopefully, Nneka lives up to her tagline’s promise.
Karen Huger: “I Don’t Ride the Fence, Honey. I am the Fence. You Ride Me.”
Karen Huger‘s tagline ranks this high mostly because we cannot stop thinking about it. Let’s be frank—this tagline makes zero sense. But nothing Karen does makes much sense. And that’s one of the many reasons Potomac’s Grand Dame is so delightful to watch. We can’t wait for more of her and Ray Huger’s antics.
Gizelle Bryant: “I’m No Angel. But Gimme Some Grace, and You’ll Learn to Adore Me.”
This isn’t just an accurate statement, it’s also an adorable reference to Gizelle’s kids, college-bound Grace and the younger twins Angel and Adore. Gizelle made a lot of missteps last year, but even her biggest haters can acknowledge that she’s a great mom. Her relationship with her three daughters is always delightful to watch. Especially when her girls drag her fashion (and dating) choices.
It’s cute, it’s a bit corny, and it reminds fans of her best qualities. We like it! It’s not going to beat “I want Ray to live! I want him to pay his bills!” as Gizelle’s best quote ever, but what possibly could.
Candiace Dillard Bassett: “When They Go Low, I Just [bursts into song] Hit High Notes.”
Of course Candiace Dillard Bassett would choose to sing her tagline. Does Candiace ever actually take the high road? Not really. But we can applaud the “Drive Back” songstress for finding any excuse to show off those vocals.
And considering how her co-stars are repeatedly trying to take down her marriage, only to expose their own relationship woes, we think the pageant queen can have some space to gloat.
