While Mauricio Umansky gives off an innocent enough vibe. Those who’ve followed him closely know he’s been entrenched in more than a few controversies, even beyond Real Housewives of Beverly Hills or Dancing with the Stars.
Rumors may continue to circulate over the status of Mauricio’s marriage or his current dating life. But his career is where onlookers truly raise eyebrows. Mauricio’s work as a realtor has come with more than a few accusations.
For example, there’s the ongoing case over an $88 million Malibu mansion that was allegedly meant to go to an African “prince.” If that weren’t a big enough case on its own, Mauricio’s company has now been slapped with another lawsuit.
Mauricio, UMRO, and tenants from hell
RadarOnline revealed the details of Mauricio’s latest legal troubles. Reportedly, a Los Angeles homeowner working with Mauricio’s UMRO Realty Corp has brought charges against the company. The homeowner alleges that UMRO brokers brought in unruly tenants who caused $1 million worth of damages to the property’s furniture, clothes, paintings, and garden.
The lawsuit also alleges that the tenants broke into the wine cellar and drank or otherwise stole $100,000 worth of vintage bottles. The homeowner further accused UMRO of knowing the renters’ history with “contract fraud” but accommodated them anyway. “The Tenants refused to vacate the Premises and return possession thereof to the Plaintiffs,” the suit read.
“Plaintiffs have been forced to incur additional legal fees as a result.” The homeowner essentially called the entire situation a money-making scheme, given that UMRO knew of the tenants’ dealings in the past. The $12 million mansion was being rented at $55k a month, meaning the damages staggered beyond the income.
Dancing with the Stars continues Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+, while Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 continues on Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
