Forget about making it nice. Let’s keep it real. Tom Sandoval is one of the most hated individuals in America right now. He cheated on his long-time love of almost a decade with Raquel Leviss. The trio was featured on Vanderpump Rules for many seasons.
But Season 10 is dropping a lot of hints about what became known as Scandoval–the betrayal of Ariana Madix. Perhaps if Sandoval laid low, apologized sincerely, and behaved with discretion, the public could find some room for forgiveness.
Instead, Sandoval has fought with his co-stars, took a while to apologize to Ariana, and gave an ill-advised interview with Howie Mandel. Bravo executives reportedly condemned the sit-down.
Society at large took offense to his tone. It sounded like Sandoval was shifting the blame to Ariana. The lack of intimacy, the distance in their relationship, and the claim that he repeatedly tried to break up with her all sounded like excuses for the seven-month affair he had conducted with Raquel.
Fellow Vanderpump Rules stars and other Bravolebrities have plenty to say about the Schwartz & Sandy’s co-owner. Page Six reported that former Real Housewives of New York star Dorinda Medley critiqued the interview.
During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy, the former Jovani enthusiast blasted Sandoval for portraying Ariana as “needy” and “crazy.”
“It didn’t serve him well and I really don’t understand how he had any comfort level in even talking about what he thought Ariana felt or her reactions to things,” Dorinda explained.
The RHONY alum added, “Where were we going with that? What were you trying to insinuate? That you were trying to break up with her but she was so needy and she just wouldn’t let [you] go? … Did he really think that was what we were going to take away from it?”
Dorinda is known for being blunt. And in typical fashion, she went on to question Sandoval’s motives. Including why he chose the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast as a platform. Hint hint, it’s because Sandoval wouldn’t be asked the hard questions.
The first lady of Blue Stone Manor added, “Why Howie Mandel? He didn’t even know about the show. He didn’t know who Scheana [Shay] was. My mother, who is 83, probably knows who Scheana is.”
Dorinda knows a thing or two about being beholden to a network. As well as working with producers. She advised that Bravo wouldn’t want Sandoval’s personal story shared outside their arena.
“Don’t,” Dorinda said about doing unapproved interviews. She added, “Loyalty does matter. I just don’t think it’s good for your career long-term and people want immediate salacious satisfaction. You play it out and you trust the process.”
Bravo executive, and host of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen previously commented that Sandoval and Howie hadn’t done “themselves any favors” by conducting the sit-down.
“I found out about it last week [and] was annoyed on my behalf, on Bravo’s behalf, on the viewers’ behalf,” Andy said recently on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live.
Some of Sandoval’s more outrageous statements included his claim that Ariana was in “denial.” Sandoval claimed that he broke up with her two weeks before she found sexually explicit material of Raquel on his phone.
According to the Sandoval & The Most Extras frontman, Ariana equated breaking up to “effectively ending [her] life.”
“I was seeing Raquel as often as I could. I know that sounds horrible. And FaceTiming her all the time. And Ariana didn’t even notice because that’s just how separate our lives were,” Sandoval explained
Then there’s the suggestion that Ariana not noticing the affair somehow made it acceptable. Wrong Sandoval. Just wrong. He said, “She had heard things and seen things about Raquel but was very much turning a blind eye or just trusting me, I guess.”
Of course, Dorinda is just saying what we’re all thinking. We could all use some of the RHONY alum’s quips in our day-to-day life. Clip!
