To pass the time (while she’s doing time), The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah is staging a play.
In July 2022, Jen plead guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud for running a telemarketing scheme. Her victims were mainly elderly. Originally sentenced to serve 6.5 years in federal prison, a judge recently reduced that stretch by a whole year. These days Jen has swapped out the luxurious Shah Chalet for a shared cell in Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Bryan, Texas.
Even though she’s behind bars, Jen has been keeping herself busy. She’s been posting an online journal to keep her fans updated on her life in prison. She’s also been teaching some of her fellow inmates how to read and write.
And now Page Six reported that Heather Gay’s Ride-or-Die is creating a play with her fellow inmates, aptly titled Real Housewives of Bryan. The production will reportedly portray the lives of the real-life “housewives” locked up in FPC Bryan. Bravo should pick that one up. I would watch that show. Andy Cohen, please look into it!
Naturally, the personalities will be “cranked up to 11,” Jen’s manager Chris Giovanni told TMZ. But without the exotic girls’ trips and the glam squads.
Her manager also shared that since reporting to prison in February, the MVP of SLC has been working in the library and educational department in the prison. In addition to playwriting, teaching, and online journaling, she has been busy getting into shape. Since her incarceration, Jen has lost 15 pounds just by working out and eating less. Apparently, the food in the prison cafeteria isn’t up to her usual standards.
Additionally, Jen, who is Muslim, has been participating in Ramadan, a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community, to keep in touch with her faith.
As part of her sentence, Jen must also pay $6.5 million in restitution to her victims. Federal authorities are hoping to confiscate some (if not all) of her expensive jewelry collection to satisfy the debt.
Currently scheduled for release on August 30, 2028, the Real Housewife of Bryan Prison seems to be adjusting well. Now I’m just wondering if Whitney Rose has scheduled a date for her “conjugal visit” yet.
