Maybe the re-emergence of Jacqueline Laurita from the woodwork has Teresa Giudice remembering the good old days on Real Housewives of New Jersey. Joe Giudice was still in the picture and the duo had yet to do time for their crimes.
In the years before Teresa and Luis “Louie” Ruelas met and ensconced themselves in a Jersey-licious love bubble, there was Joe. He was abrupt, stubborn and, according to Jacqueline, a cheater. Teresa always defended Joe on RHONJ, but what does she really think now that both parties have moved on?
Teresa and Louie appeared on Watch What Happens Live on February 14, 2023. During the segment, host Andy Cohen noted the different dynamic between the new couple, and when Teresa was a guest with ex-husband Joe.
Bravo’s The Daily Dish reported that the comment sparked a moment of reverie for the mother of four. After Teresa spoke of the ups and downs of her prior marriage, Andy asked, “Do you in retrospect think that he cheated on you or was unfaithful to you?”
Teresa answered, “I mean, I never caught him. And if I would’ve, I would’ve never stayed with him.”
There were rumors, but Teresa chose not to listen to hearsay. When she did have her suspicions, she always went straight to the source. She recalled an instance when she suspected Joe was cheating. Teresa confronted the two women and “they both denied it.”
Teresa explained that she wouldn’t take drastic measures and uproot her family unless there was evidence. She said, “I’m all about the proof. I can’t just leave my kids’ father because someone’s telling me he’s cheating on me. It’s like, show me. Prove it. Because then I could say that to my kids — like, look, this is who he cheated on me with.” Teresa added.
But the marriage had its tender moments. Teresa married young and took on the relevant responsibilities. She “felt safe” with Joe and credits the life she had with him as a stepping stone to meeting her “soulmate” Louie.
“I thought I was in love [with Joe],” Teresa said of the differing relationships. “But when I met Louie, it was like a whole different thing.”
Teresa finalized her divorce from Joe in September 2020. Shortly thereafter, she went public with Louie, and the couple married in August 2022.
Meanwhile, Joe set himself up in the Bahamas to be closer to his daughters Gia Giudice, Gabriella Giudice, Milania Giudice, and Audriana Giudice. Teresa maintained a relationship with Joe’s family and they often fly together to meet him.
“My girls see Joe’s family all the time. They come over [and] we take them on vacation with us,” Teresa explained.
