Captain Sandy Yawn Says She “Doesn’t Have A Feeling Of Hate In Her Heart” Towards Hannah Ferrier Following Below Deck Drama

To be fair to Captain Sandy Yawn, she gets asked about Hannah Ferrier quite a bit.  The Below Deck Mediteranean captain may not be seeking to speak about her former chief stew, but is constantly asked. At this point, firing Hannah seems to be blight on her reality TV career. The manner in which Sandy fired, then justified the firing is of continuous debate amongst fans even years later now.

So with recent news about Hannah’s triumphant return to reality TV, it seems fitting that news publications ask Sandy to comment. Us Weekly published Sandy’s response from an exclusive interview last week.

Hannah doesn’t want any part of me,” Sandy said of their current relationship. “I feel I’m happy for her in everything that she’s doing. Honestly — I’ve never had a feeling of hate. It doesn’t live in my heart.”

Sandy is still defending her decision to fire Hannah during Season 5. Called into question was Bosun Malia White’s involvement in it all.  Malia seemingly collected evidence of Hannah’s CBD pen and valium to use at a most convenient time.  It didn’t help questions about Sandy’s bias that she showed obvious favoritism towards Malia.

“I wish her well, and for some reason she blames me, but you know what? I’m sorry. I’m not gonna risk my career for anybody. I wish her well,” Sandy exclaimed.

Not that Sandy hasn’t “tried” to mend fences with the Australian native since they parted ways, but Hannah doesn’t want “any part of it.”

“If Hannah ever opened the door, of course” Sandy explained during the interview. “We’ve had great conversations in the past. Hannah used to come to my cabin often and I would hear a lot of her stories. So, there was a relationship there. But what can I do? I’m living my life. She’s living hers.”

Hannah’s come up on the radar with her return to reality TV.  She is starring in The Real Love Boat, an Australian series that hosts singles on a luxury cruise ship traveling the Med and looking for love.  Hannah will function as a chief stew and mentor of sorts to the contestants.

“[It’s] awesome,” Sandy said of the news. “I’m so happy for her. I genuinely mean that. She wants TV. I’m so happy that she has that.”

Sandy, meanwhile, is still starring in Below Deck MediterraneanSeason 7 returns on July 11th at 8 p.m. ET, and her long-standing dysfunction with cast chefs will be revisited as a story line. The synopsis claims that “surprising friction in the galley intensifies between the chief stew and chef, who came onto the boat as colleagues and friends.”

It’s no better with the exterior team as the deck crew take on, “an uphill battle.” The drama is due to resentment of the slacker whose inability “to adapt to the high demands” put strain on the rest of the team. And Sandy has yet to find a steady replacement for Hannah.
