I, for one, was not expecting to endure any form of rekindling between Craig Conover and Naomie Olindo during Season 8 of Southern Charm. These two broke up all the way back in 2017. Naomie then bought a ladder, climbed herself up onto a high horse, and rode off into the New York sunset with her rebound-boo Metul Shah.
Of course, things between Naomie and Metul didn’t last. They broke up weeks into the move to NY after Naomie learned Metul had been cheating on her. Naomie then cry-faced her way straight back into my heart. She was so open about her heartbreak and even took accountability for being pompous after merely dating a not-yet-doctor. Newly humbled queen. We’ve all been there, metaphorically.
Craig has been nothing but kind to Naomie during her comeback era. He told Andy Cohen during an episode of Watch What Happens Live, “I was actually a big proponent of [Naomie returning to the show].” That’s cute.
“She came clean about everything,” Craig explained. “She apologized to everyone that she needed to…She said she was sorry. She was honest about it.” And speaking of honesty, the season opener of Southern Charm got real honest, real quick.
Craig and Naomie quickly got into a rather surprising storyline during the Season 8 premiere. Craig dropped a bombshell that he and Naomie had “recently” hooked up during a trip to Vegas. Fans, of course, questioned whether the timing of this tryst had any overlap with Craig’s romance with Paige DeSorbo.
In an interview with E! News, Craig answered the question on everyone’s mind. “It was months before we became exclusive,” he said of the hookup with Naomie and his new relationship with Paige. “We didn’t live in the same city and we were figuring out if we really wanted that.”
Painfully, Craig admitted that “seeing” Naomie in Vegas was the “closure [he] didn’t know [he] needed.” He explained, “I was finally was able to be like, ‘I know who my person is, and it’s not you, but I wish you well.’ And it really put me on a path forward to knowing that I wanted to date Paige.”
Naomie shared her side of things too saying she and Craig are on “really good terms” and she was surprised to see their hook-up become “such a big deal.” Really??
“It was blown up a little bit more than what Craig and I anticipated,” Naomie said. She added that she is “super happy” for Craig and Paige. “I think she’s wonderful. And I think that they’re a really good match, or at least they seem to be.”
