It’s not every day that they talk sports over on Watch What Happens Live, but when they do, you better believe there’s going to be some sort of gossipy, reality TV tie-in. That was 100% the case when Iman Shumpert stopped by the WWHL clubhouse this week. Andy Cohen took the opportunity to ask the NBA star about his time playing on the Cleveland Cavaliers, but only as it pertained to the Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson cheating scandal.
For those who don’t closely follow sports, Tristan Thompson and Iman Shumpert were teammates on the Cavs when all hell broke loose in Tristan’s personal life. The team was headed for the NBA championships when news came out that Tristan had been caught cheating on Khloe while she was pregnant with their daughter True Thompson. But, of course, that was in 2018, and it was only the tip of the iceberg regarding Khloe and Tristan’s relationship problems. The worst was yet to come. Still, Andy asked Iman about what it was like playing with a teammate wrapped up in endless tabloid stories.
Andy asked, “When you were on the Cavs, what was your vibe about everything going on with Tristan Thompson and Khloe Kardashian? Was that a big disruption for the team?”
Iman responded, “It wasn’t. It wasn’t a big disruption for us.” He continued, “Honestly, when the outside world and stuff bubbles up, the best thing for us is that we have games, so we can focus on that. We have tunnel vision.”
Clearly, Tristan’s tunnel vision was not working properly because, in addition to caring for his pregnant partner and grinding through the NBA, he found the time to cheat and eventually get someone else pregnant.
Despite the “tunnel vision,” Iman admitted that the team did feel bad seeing Khloe go through such a humiliating experience. He revealed, “I think we just all felt for Khloe. She’s cool, man.”
Iman continued to chat about his former teammate’s tumultuous relationship, saying. “I don’t know what they got going on. I’m sure they speak. They grown. They do right by their shorties.” Then, he reflected, “Man, it was sad. I remember feeling like that.
