So You Think You Can Dance has a found its new judge, just two weeks after firing Matthew Morrison for his inappropriate behavior towards one of the contestants. If you thought they’d pick a professional dancer, or perhaps one of the many choreographers who have appeared on the show throughout the years, you’d be very wrong. It’s Leah Remini.
“I am thrilled to join So You Think You Can Dance on its milestone 300th episode,” Leah announced in a statement, as Us Weekly reported. “I look forward to guiding these incredibly talented artists through this competition as a fan of the show and a great admirer of dancers. I can’t wait to see the artistry that the contestants bring to the stage!”
The announcement basically admits that Leah isn’t necessarily a dance expert but simply an admirer and a fan. It’s kind of like when Ellen DeGeneres was a judge on an American Idol. But in Leah’s case, she does have a little bit of experience when it comes to dancing competition shows. She competed in season 17 of Dancing With The Stars. She lost, but she did return as a guest judge and cohost over the years because, after all, she is “a great admirer of dancers.”
Leah will officially join the judges’ table on June 15, alongside JoJo Siwa and Stephen “tWitch” Boss. Matthew Morrison taped the audition rounds but got fired after a contestant complained to production that he had been sending her messages that made her feel uncomfortable. A source close to the show claimed, “They didn’t have sex, but he reached out to her through flirty direct messages on social media.”
Recently, Matthew came out downplaying the accusations. He posted a video on his Instagram with his wedding band on full display, and the comments turned off, claiming that the only message he sent to the contestant was, “Hey, it’s Matthew. If you don’t mind, would love to get your number and talk you through some things.”
Okay, Matthew. Either way, you shouldn’t be messaging the contestants asking them for their phone numbers. So, although Leah Remini isn’t contributing technical dance know-how to SYTYCD, she’ll at least bring some professionalism back to the show.
TELL US – WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT LEAH REMINI JOINING SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE? DO YOU THINK THEY MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE? IS THERE SOMEONE ELSE YOU WOULD HAVE RATHER SEEN AT THE JUDGES’ TABLE?
