With the latest Real Housewives of Orange County season drawn to a close, and ratings being at an all time low, many are already speculating as to possible cast shakeups for season 17. If you were concerned however, about the recent buzz that RHOC‘s Gina Kirschenheiter was demoted, sleep easy. The report was shot down by the Orange County housewife through a simple dm exchange with another user account on Instagram.
A user posted Saturday, “@ginakirschenheiter shuts down rumors she’s been demoted for season 17 of the Real Housewives of Orange County! #rhoc #realhousewives”. Along side the post was a screenshot of a dm exchange between the user and Gina. The user messaged Gina, “Please tell me you weren’t demoted, omfg”. Gina hearted the message and responded, “Wasn’t demoted.” Followed by three red heart emojis. The user account responded “F*** YES. ilysm Slay your day away queen!”.
Reactions to the post from other users were mixed, with some evidently hoping there was some truth to the gossip. Interestingly, the comments that appeared to get the most likes, were very clearly team ‘Demote Gina‘. One user cheekily accused the account of being Gina undercover, dming herself to stage the exchange. “Well Gina and this person (who allegedly isn’t herself on another account dming herself) are the only ones excited for her return.”
Another account posted savagely, “Can we just demote Orange County to be a “friend of” [Real Housewives of] Beverly Hills? This franchise sucks.” Ouch. I think we can now safely say the return of Mrs. fancy pants Heather Dubrow was not enough to save the show’s performance this season with audiences.
Other users were more positive, showing their support for the housewife. One user rejoiced, “Yay! I love Gina! And I love her and Emily [Simpson]‘s friendship.” Another account responded joyfully, “Awesome! She’s the best part of OC.” One commented, “Odd man out here. I like her.”
Luckily for those team Gina, she’s safe for now; but she’ll have to keep bringing it if she wants to keep her orange. If there’s one thing we know from Bravo housewife history: when rumours of a demotion are amok, it might be a hint it’s time to step it up.
