This news is coming at the perfect time for me, as I am deep into a Real Housewives of Orange County rewatch. I started at the VERY beginning. Let me tell you, it’s been so fun to watch just how far the franchise that started it all has progressed. One of my absolute favorites was the sweet and kind Lauri Peterson. I stand by my assessment that she was too pure for the show.
When she was first introduced to us, she was divorced and down on her luck. Trying to make it on her own, Lauri put up with being bossed around by Vicki Gunvalson trying to sell insurance. We all knew selling insurance wasn’t the life for her, but she had to do what she had to do. But Lauri didn’t stay down for long and met the love of her life, George Peterson. He treated her like a queen and accepted her three kids into the fold. And it didn’t hurt that he was super rich. It was everything Lauri deserved and then some. So instead of arguing with the likes of Tamra Judge, Lauri made her exit on season 4. She wisely chose to focus on her happy new life. And Lauri and George are still married, 15 years later.
But while Lauri was content to leave RHOC behind, her daughter, Ashley Zarlin, wants to throw her hat in the ring. She recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live as the guest bartender and pleaded her case. Host Andy Cohen asked, “Can you believe that Orange County is still on the air and that it started it all?” Ashley responded, “I can’t believe it. We were the first franchise and we started it all. It’s crazy to see how big its gotten.” Andy interjected, “It’s wild right? 16 years later.”
At this point, Ashley, who is now 36 and absolutely stunning, decided to shoot her shot. She laughed, “I’m still waiting for the opportunity to be the first legacy housewife.” An excited Andy replied, “You know, people always talk about Kara Keough but I’m looking at you and I’m like….” Ashley suggested, “You know, Kara and I together would be great. It would be genius.” Andy nodded enthusiastically and said, “I know.”
If you couldn’t tell already, I am totally here for this. I’m not into the idea of mother/daughter housewife duos on at the time (looking at you, Gia Giudice). But I love the idea of a grown daughter of a former housewife breathing new life into their franchise. Maybe we could get a look into her mom’s current life and I would love to see what Ashley’s life is like now. Bring on Kara too! It would be a true passing of the torch. Considering RHOC seems to be dying a slow death, this might be just what it needs.
TELL US – WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ASHLEY AND KARA ON RHOC? WHAT OTHER KIDS WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ON THEIR MOTHER’S FRANCHISE? ARE YOU STILL WATCHING RHOC?
