Is it time for the “Katie vibes” to make their way back to Potomac? Karen Huger thinks so. The Grande Dame recently sat down with Page Six, and she revealed that she’s ready to accept Katie Rost back to the show with “open arms.” But is Bravo ready to bring Katie back to The Real Housewives of Potomac?
A few weeks ago, RHOP fans were buzzing when Katie was spotted at a party alongside the rest of the Potomac ensemble. The party seemed to have been filmed for season 7 of the show, so there’s been major speculation surrounding a potential comeback for Katie. The reality TV bug must have bit Katie while she was with the cast that day because shortly after, she issued a public apology to Andy Cohen on Instagram, essentially asking for her job back.
Katie wrote, “I would like to issue a public apology for statements I made that weren’t cool in the past to Andy Cohen. And I do want a job. And I swear I will totally behave. I’m also sorry for my temper tantrums. I feel no thirst. I just want to work. And I’m hot and amazing and so I’m issuing this statement publicly. #katievibes”
Unfortunately, that public apology went unacknowledged by Andy, and according to Page Six, there are no current plans to bring Katie back to the show as a Housewife or as a friend. Although it doesn’t seem like the Bravo execs are in Katie’s corner, Karen Huger certainly is.
“I miss Katie and her wigs!” she told Page Six. “Ray [Huger] misses Katie. I’ve had to stay on top of that one! They really enjoy each other a lot.”
Karen continued to sing the praises of her fellow OG, describing Katie as a “silent, brilliant genius.”
“Her timing and what she will do [on the show] is so authentic to Katie. None of us can duplicate it,” Karen explained. “None of us can bring what Katie can bring to this group. And it is missed. That’s why she pops up all the time. Because when she comes, it’s like magic.”
Karen’s right. Katie was only a full-time Houswife for one season, plus a few cameos here and there. But every time she pops up, it’s memorable. Can you think of any other one-season wonder that’s more beloved than Katie? Probably not. So, it’s kind of refreshing to see Karen recognize that potential.
She told Page Six, “If it ever lined up for Katie, I’d be right there opening the door. I would.” She continued, “The love is there for Katie. The calling from the viewers is there for Katie. … Let’s keep our fingers crossed and see what happens with Katie.”
