Taking one for the team! Kelly Bensimon was known on Real Housewives of New York as one of the more athletic housewives on the show. Who could forget her jogging in front of a line of traffic in downtown NYC when we first met her? That simple jog was probably one of her most memorable moments on the show. Obviously behind Scary Island and “I’m up here, you’re down here,” of course. So it’s not surprising that the super fit model might be interested in someone who can keep up from a physical perspective.
Kelly is now sharing with Page Six that she bagged herself an athlete boyfriend. While she won’t reveal what sport he plays, if he currently plays one at all, or who he is, she was happy to gush about him. Said Kelly, “I’m not single. I have a boyfriend and he’s incredible. He’s an amazing athlete.” She added, “[He’s] very, very smart. So I feel really blessed to know him and I’m really excited to see where it goes with him. He’s very, very talented in sports. I love it. So exciting!”
The announcement of her new beau comes just months after she was linked to famed New York Yankees player Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez. After he split with Jennifer Lopez in the spring, rumors swirled that the Kelly and A-Rod were flirting via text. Kelly admitted of the rumors, “I’ve known A-Rod for a long time. There was a rumor about us dating a long time ago and I’ve met him multiple times. He was single. I was single. He’s a great texter.”
In an embarrassing turn of events, A-Rod’s rep quickly came out and said that Kelly’s message with A-Rod were for “business purposes” only. For context, Kelly works as a high-end real estate agent in the city and Alex is a big time real estate investor. But according to Kelly, the two talked more than just business. She explained, “We were working on some projects together, in addition to him being an amazing texter. And I just think he’s a great guy. He’s been nothing but charming, engaging, sweet [and he’s a] good father. So I really have a lot of respect for him.”
As for her name being tossed around for the new Real Housewives of New York: Legacy series, Kelly doesn’t seem opposed to the idea. But what she is opposed to is bringing her new boyfriend on the show. She stated, “I’ve always been very private, as you know. I don’t talk about my boyfriends, even my ex-husband [Gilles Bensimon].” She went on, “I kept him very private for obvious reasons. I don’t like to exploit men. It’s really not my business model.”
Instead, Kelly asserts that she likes to “celebrate” and “snuggle with” men. She concluded, “I’m very happy right now. I’ve met a lot of really unbelievable men in my life and I just like to keep all of that where it belongs…in bed.”
