The Kardashians would be nothing without their scandals. If you really think about it, the success of Keeping Up With The Kardashians came at the same time Kim Kardashian was dealing with her sex tape drama. It comes with the territory of being America’s most famous family. Over the years that fans have learned more about the Kardashian fam, there have been plenty of dramatic moments that have led to plenty of public opinions.
Kimmy experienced one of those moments recently while promoting KUWTK 2.0 on Hulu, which is finally premiering SOON. She’s an independent mom trying to stack her coins and hang out with her lowkey boyfriend Pete Davidson. Unfortunately, thanks to the combined efforts of Kanye West and the internet at large, she has to deal with a bit of backlash here and there.
The scandal came after Kim said in an interview that people these days don’t want to work hard to be successful. Page Six reports that Kimmy is blaming the media for jumping on a “sound bite” with “no context,” she said. Kim claims that the response came after she was asked to respond to the years-old idea that she and her family are just famous for being famous.
“It wasn’t a blanket statement towards women or to feel like I don’t respect the work or think that they don’t work hard,” Kimmy elaborated. Rather, Kim meant to convey that just having a social media presence and being on a reality show isn’t enough to turn someone into an “overnight success.” Those can be important aspects to helping people reach their goals, but only “if you put in a lot of hard work,” she added.
Now that the initial buzz has died down, Kim is here to set the record straight that she doesn’t think everyone is lazy besides her family. I actually totally agree with her sentiment. Sometimes it feels like some people use reality TV as a catalyst to become social media influencers. It can be a lucrative career, but only if you know what you’re doing.
