It really is the end. After news broke of Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz ending their union, fans speculated that maybe this was some elaborate stunt for the next season of Vanderpump Rules. After all, Katie had admitted that the two were still living together in their home. But just a few days after they announced they split, Katie made it official by filing for divorce. So, she’s making it pretty clear that she’s done.
But Katie is still being asked, likely because the two posted about hanging out together on their Instagram accounts. As reported by E! News, Katie isn’t budging on the break up. Katie recently responded to a celebrity photographer asking if there was a chance at a reconciliation. Said Katie, “I don’t think so.” She also replied, “Yeah” when asked if this was really it.
She reiterated that the breakup has been “peaceful” and “loving.” In addition, she said, “I could not have asked for a better situation.” Most notably, Katie confirmed that cheating didn’t have anything to do with the split. She stated, “No infidelity. We just grew apart, you know. We have a great friendship but things just happen sometimes, unfortunately.” Finally, she admitted that she’s “always going to love Tom.”
This is a sentiment that Katie echoed when she announced the breakup on her Instagram. Her statement read, “I never thought I would have to make an announcement like this. But I feel it’s important that I’m open about my life with you. After 12 years on an adventure through our life together Tom and I are ending our marriage. This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose.”
For his part, Tom blamed himself for the split, saying, “That’s all on me.” He also said in his own statement that he,“Fully respect[s] Katie’s decision and we’ve had healthy, productive conversations about it. It would be far sadder if she decided to stay with me whilst not happy.”
Katie recently gave a little more insight into the break up on an episode of her podcast, You’re Going To Love Me. Katie confessed, “I felt disconnected. I felt like I was drifting away further and further away.” She sadly continued, “I felt like I was drifting and I couldn’t stop it. It was the hardest hardest thing to do. The hardest thing to tell him, because I knew it was gonna crush him.” She then revealed, “The best and only way I can describe it is just like waking up inside of my life and having this voice that just became louder and louder and just events in my life and our relationship coming into focus and feeling the weight of them on me.”
