Things are changing around Selling Sunset’s Oppenheim Group. Maya Vander announced in late February that she will be going her own way when it comes to her real estate work in Florida. She introduced the Maya Vander Group team via social media, according to Us Weekly. In the announcement Maya praised her coworkers for being “passionate about matching the perfect property with the perfect buyer.”
Maya added during her statement, “With our unmatched database and exposure in the industry, your property will sell fast and as a buyer you’ll have access to the best listings!” Sounds great! Maya has revealed that, right now, she has the “best of both worlds…getting to travel to L.A. and work in Florida where it’s home for her and her family.”
Fans of Selling Sunset may take the news of Maya’s switch up as a surprise. Maya previously denied Christine Quinn’s assertion that she was on her way out of the Oppenheim Group. At the time Maya said, “I’m like, ‘Where did she get the info from? Because it’s not true.’ There is no reason for me to move my license in L.A. I’ve been with Jason [Oppenheim] for six years. We get along fine. Obviously, he’s my boss. I have a lot of respect for him and I trust his opinion as far as real estate.”
About a year later, Maya was hinting that Jason and his twin brother Brett Oppenheim play favorites with their Oppenheim Group employees. Jason, as we know, loves to date an underling! I would be running to another coast too, if that creeper were my boss.
In the end, Maya admitted that she “can’t complain” about the awkward workplace dynamics because Jason assisted her in bolstering her Miami clientele when she relocated. She said, “[Jason] did refer me to clients in Miami. So, I [have] to be appreciative of that and just do my own thing.”
Maya hasn’t announced any severed ties with the L.A. based Oppenheim Group. “She’s still with the Oppenheim Group and is doing deals in both L.A. and Florida,” a source revealed. They added, “She’s just expanding to Miami.”
While we await the Selling Sunset Season 5 release date, which is set to include Maya, fans can rest easy knowing that show has already been renewed for a sixth and seventh season.
