Total Bellas star Nikki Bella went through some major life changes in 2019. She announced that she was retiring from the WWE. And she made it Instagram official with her new man, Dancing with the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev. In 2017, Artem and Nikki met when they were paired together on DWTS. They had some sizzling chemistry in the ballroom.
Nikki was in a relationship with John Cena at that time. The duo reconnected after John and Nikki called it quits.
In December of 2021, Nikki said that their wedding was postponed for another year because of travel restrictions caused by the Covid pandemic. The couple originally planned to get married sometime in the fall of 2021. Nikki made an important promise to her fiancé about their wedding.
“The one promise I made [Artem] before we can plan is that his parents can attend. And with where the world’s at right now and trying to get two Russian parents into the country, it’s almost impossible,” Nikki explained. “So, the day I can get two visas is the day we will set our date and say, ‘I do.’”
According to Page Six, Nikki discussed her concerns about getting married on E! News Daily Pop. Nikki stated, “Once I had Matteo and I started to raise him, I was like, when I say, ‘I do,’ I want to make sure it’s forever. I know there are things that Artem wants too — like he really wants his parents there — but also, overall, I don’t want my son to go through a divorce,” she shared.
The couple, who became engaged in November of 2019, welcomed their son Matteo into the world the following year.
Nikki was married once before. When Nikki was just 20 years old, she tied the knot with her high school sweetheart. Three years later, their marriage was annulled. For six years, John and Nikki were in an off-and-on relationship. In April of 2017, John finally asked Nikki to marry him. But in July of 2018, the couple called off their engagement, setting the stage for Artem and Nikki to reunite. And this time, the duo made a love connection.

Nikki said that she is taking things slow with Artem because of “everything I’ve been through.” Amen, girl. Nikki and Artem decided to move slowly to insure that getting married is “absolutely” what is best for them.
The former wrestler remarked, “Already what we have going on in our house right now is amazing. It’s pretty much like a married life.” Nikki commented that she “really wanted to be with someone who was going to be an amazing father, and Artem is that.”
Artem recently struggled with a month-long bout of pneumonia. On January 20, 2022, Artem posted a statement on his Instagram announcing that he was leaving the DWTS: Live! Tour. “Hi DWTS family – My time on tour so far has been wonderful – unfortunately I am having to step away from tour for a while, due to some unexpected health issues,” the dancer wrote.

Nikki recently announced that Artem was recovered and ready to cha-cha his way back to the tour. “He just got word from his doctor yesterday. His scans came back, and he’s cleared,” Nikki said. “He’s feeling great. He’s itching to go back and dance.”
