Throughout the show’s seven seasons, Southern Charm has featured several wacky characters that, for better or for worse, are entertaining to watch. Most of the show’s central cast stems from a group of Charleston natives that are navigating various aspects of life.
Sometimes, they are grappling with Peter Pan syndrome while others are trying to find their perfect match (AKA their Budweiser). Out of all the stars of the show, Michael Kelcourse, better known as Patricia Altschul’s lovable butler, is the absolute purest.
Michael’s been a staple on Southern Charm since the beginning. He’s central to the story, whether he’s doctoring up Patricia’s perfect martini or giving Whitney Sudler-Smith some words of wisdom. Unfortunately, Michael suffered from a stroke about a year ago that took a toll on his health. Because he’s such a central figure on the show, fans were obviously worried about his health.
Patricia has remained a loyal friend through this time, giving fans updates on Michael’s recovery. Luckily, he’s been doing well and staying in an assisted living facility. Now, Pat has provided a major update for Michael that sounds like an amazing move for his well-being.

Patricia took to Instagram to reveal that Michael is moving. He will still reside in an assisted living facility, but his new home is located in Florida that is “importantly near his family,” Patricia wrote. The post included a photo of Michael celebrating the news with a cake. “All the best wishes to Michael on this new adventure,” Patricia added. It sounds like she and Whitney need to make a road trip to the Sunshine State and whip Michael up an afternoon cocktail for a change.
The Southern Charm matriarch also had to show Michael some extra love with her post. She referred to her former butler, permanent friend as a “consummate professional” and “perfect gentleman.” She commended his love for animals, and referred to him as an “all-around great guy.” Anyone who has seen Michael in at least one scene on Southern Charm probably can agree with her sweet depiction.
