The cast members of Vanderpump Rules have undergone major transformations throughout the show’s nine seasons. Look at someone like Stassi Schroeder — she went from Jax Taylor’s girlfriend to a mommy podcaster who isn’t even on VPR anymore. Scheana Shay still sports her crop tops and high ponytails, but she’s experienced plenty of tragedy and triumph since first putting on her SUR uniform.
Ariana Madix is one Pump Rules star who has really stayed true to herself. She and Tom Sandoval have always been solid partners and her friendship with Scheana is stronger than ever. But Ariana’s personal transformations on the show, one that she’s been particularly open about, is something to commemorate.
Ariana always keeps it real, whether she’s teaching Lala Kent how to be cool or speaking her truth on the Miami Girl of it all. It always bugs me how everyone hounds Ariana when it comes to how she decides to live her life. She’s not begging to get married to Sandoval or rushing to have a baby. For some reason, she’s always expected to explain her choices, which is totally unfair. Ariana is open about what she wants to be, and that’s amazing. Aside from that, we can respect her witty attitude and boss lifestyle without having to make comments about her choices.

In another moment of vulnerability, Ariana appeared on Scheana’s Scheananigans podcast to talk about an extremely personal topic — her eating disorder. Ariana addresses that she’s “grown in literal size” over the years, but it doesn’t bother her like it used to. “I started the show, I feel like with a full-blown eating disorder,” Ariana explained, via Page Six.
Ariana says that she’s recovered since then, but it is always something she will have to live with. “I feel like I have some tendencies toward disordered eating, but at least I’m more, now, conscious of it and will fight against it to be healthy,” Ariana said. “Whereas in the past, I was just like, ‘Just don’t eat, just don’t eat,” and that was bad.”
Charli Burnett has previously been open about her weight fluctuations and problems with food on VPR, which is also brave and inspiring. Ariana is following in her footsteps, and it’s likely something a lot of people can relate to.
