We’re seeing a different Jennifer Aydin for season 12 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and I’m not talking about the new nose. She recently revealed to People that she didn’t drink any alcohol while filming the new season. Although her castmates had previously expressed concern about her drinking, Jennifer is adamant that sobriety wasn’t a big stretch for her.
“If you know me in real life, you would know that I really am not a big drinker. It’s just that when I do drink, I don’t know my limits, obviously,” Jennifer explained. “That’s just because I don’t drink excessively enough to know where my limit is. I don’t know how many licks it takes to get to the center of this girl, we got to find out.”
For Jennifer, the turning point for her on-screen relationship with alcohol was the infamous pool party at Teresa Giudice’s house in season 11. She had a few too many and then had a few more. Bill Aydin had to carry her away to keep her from throwing up all over the party. At the time, she said, “I’ve made an executive decision to drink anymore.” Of course, we’ve all told that lie after a rough night. But in Jennifer’s case, some clarity came out of that messy, drunken moment.
“When I got drunk at Teresa’s party, I had never been drunk like that in my life,” Jennifer said. “I mean, I think I had alcohol poisoning. I was shaking till two o’clock in the morning, in the fetal position, begging Bill to make it stop, and he is like, ‘Nope, you just got to go through it.’ I’m like, ‘This is terrible. Why do people drink?’ ”

She continued, “Listen, I love fun, drunk Jennifer. I love her. I just don’t like curling over and feeling like I’m going to vomit all over your Ferrari Jennifer.”
Although we won’t be seeing vomit all over your Ferrari Jennifer this season, we can still count on her to bring plenty of drama. In the season 12 premiere, we saw her struggling to find her footing in the group after the explosive events of season 11. You can’t say she’s not trying. And, perhaps being sober will help her be more equipped to go toe-to-toe with Margaret Josephs, who never drinks.
Although this season of RHONJ seems to be packed full of the juicy Jersey drama that we’ve been tuning in to for over a decade, Jennifer said that the fun moments among the group are what she’s most excited to see. She told People, “And I feel like aside from the drama, which I know everybody loves, there’s a lot of fun moments, and a lot of loving moments and a lot of laugh-out-loud moments that we’re going to see.”
