Elizabeth Lyn Vargas likely faced one of the scariest moments of her life last week. The former Real Housewives of Orange County star was held hostage when her ex-boyfriend barricade himself inside of her Newport Beach home. He was allegedly holding her at gunpoint. A source claimed that he was obsessive and trying to extort her for money. Said the source, “He became obsessive with her and would show up at places and come by her house randomly. He asked her for money all the time, so she gave him a little money, but then threatened to start extorting her.” The ex also demanded she give him a car, to which she refused.
As reported by Radar Online, the ex has been identified by police as Ryan Geraghty. Ryan, who is 33, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, and extortion. After Ryan stormed into her home and locked himself inside, Elizabeth called 911. A source revealed, “She called the police, so police start monitoring the house, and he shows up. He runs in the house, holds her hostage, has a gun. When [police] realized he pulled a gun out, they raided.” Several nearby mansions were evacuated as a safety precaution.

The Newport Police Department issued a statement to clarify the confusing sequence of events. They said that “once inside the residence, police officers encountered an armed male suspect who was actively threatening the life of the victim. Officers took immediate action and placed the suspect into custody.” Elizabeth’s Manager put out a statement after the incident. He stated, “[Elizabeth] was shaken up and had an extremely traumatic experience. Fortunately, the Newport Police Department saved her and she’s doing well.” Thankfully, Elizabeth was able to take her mind off things and went out to dinner at Nobu in Malibu with a billionaire philanthropist friend.
Elizabeth was on last season of RHOC, where she seemed to be a little lost in the mix of women. She had a colorful background and was clearly wealthy, but she struggled to connect with the cast. Apparently when she was let go after her first only season, Elizabeth was surprised. She later admitted, “I 100 percent thought I was going back. Never even for a minute questioned it. I even talked to other producers, other people, other everything, my contract was still in place.”
