Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules is coming to a close and people have lots of different opinions on the state of the show. Do I think this season could have been better? YES. But I was also willing to keep an open mind this season as they all got used to filming after the cast shake-ups that happened in 2020.
Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired from VPR after Faith Stowers revealed that they had called the police and falsely accused her of committing a crime. Shortly thereafter, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright supposedly departed on their own terms from the show. Since all of them got the ax, Pump Rules has been different. If it wasn’t for Brock Davies and James Kennedy, there would have been zero story this season. Some people, like Katie Maloney-Schwartz are really missing the Witches of WeHo.
In an exclusive interview with Page Six, Katie opened up about filming the show, saying, “It was definitely a different season overall. It was minus some of the people I had been on this journey with for a long time.” Even though she’s not filming with her best friends, Katie said, “I still see them all the time. I still hang out with them all the time. So, it would be nice to have that part of my life still be present on the show.”
It’s obvious Katie is hurting without Stassi and Kristen because she just didn’t have anything going on this season. That is until Ariana Madix joined forces with Katie and randomly decided they wanted to open a sandwich shop. Progress on “Something About Her” however is TBD at the moment since their funding fell through.
Katie understands that Stassi and Kristen’s reasons for exiting the show “are so much more complicated,” and she’s definitely “aware of that.” She remains optimistic for a comeback though. “Never say never. I don’t even know how the future of the show [looks].” But she does “hope the show keeps going on forever and ever and ever, so if that’s the case, then who knows [if they’d be able to come back?] Probably.”
Katie sounds confident enough here. Considering how this season went, if they do decide to renew Pump Rules for Season 10, I could see Stassi, Kristen, Brittany, and Jax returning. Either way, I’m excited to watch the reunion. It looks like we have a lot of blow ups in store!
